About this deal

Take the dust container to your dustbin, hold it over the bin and press the container empty button at the bottom and the flap will open shake to remove all the debris.

Included is a 2-in-1 dusting brush and crevice tool for effective cleaning of a wide range of surfaces, nooks and crannies. The tool can be stored on board when not in use. To keep your cleaner working efficiently the 2 filters will need to be regularly cleaned. The first filter is found at the front behind the cover as shown. This is the exhaust filter. The Whirlwind SE71 moves around on two large wheels with floor-protecting rubber tyres, and a central trolley wheel that sits underneath the base of the vacuum. The way the main wheels are mounted to the body gives them a lot of free play, so expect a little wheel wobble if you tend to clean the house at high speed. The next step after looking at products in the same category, was to look at products from the same brand, Hoover. More information on quality can be found in this old but still very helpful article from Harvard Business Review. The 2.5 litre bin can be emptied easily and hygienically, without exposing your hands to the dirt. Washing the filters regularly under tap water will help you keep the suction strong. The next step for us was to look at all of the products that fall within the Vacuum cleaners category, of which we found 94 products at Argos. So we pulled together all of the prices of these products to analyse the average prices as well as finding the cheapest and most expensive options. To keep your cleaner working effectively and producing the best possible suction it is important to regularly empty the dust container and keep the filters clean. Toempty the container start by removing the dust container by pressing the release button on top of the product as shown.

The hose, tubes and main floor-head don’t quite add a kilo to the overall weight, making this an easy cleaner to handle. Until you begin to clean, that is. To get the very best suction it is important to keep the 2 filters clean. The exhaust filter is found at the front of the product behind a cover. Unclip the cover, peel the micro filter out and dust it out. For best results we recommend you wash this in warm water making sure it is thoroughly dry before re fitting. To remove the filter you will need to twist the lid off the dust box and lift it off. Twist the filter to remove it from the lid and separate from the mesh screen. Dust everything out but for best results wash in warm water and let dry thoroughly. Just before we get into the detail of analysing the price of this product, we want to briefly highlight the importance of setting yourself a budget before you spend too much time shopping around for a suitable product. It’s all too often that we get carried away when shopping and find ourselves buying a fantastic product, but probably actually overdelivers on what we need and therefore costs a lot more than we should have spent. So spend a bit of time looking around at the sort of price you can expect to pay for products in the Vacuum cleaners category and use that alongside your own financial situation to set yourself a budget.

Empty the dirt container and clean the filters (1)

The potent 700W motor makes its presence known with an aggressively pitched howl that’s far from unobtrusive. The thin foam post-motor filter does little to stifle air rush or motor noise, and the result is an old-fashioned cleaner sound by modern standards. The cyclonic unit can be lifted out of the container as shown and cleaned by immersing in warm water along with the container. Make sure everything is dry before re assembling.

To open the box so that it can be emptied and to also clean the hepa filter twist the lid until the 2 arrows line up, then the lid will come off. The dust container will need to be emptied regularly to keep your whirlwind cleaner working effectively. There is also a filter inside the container that should be cleaned regularly. Start by removing the dust container from the cleaner. Press the release button as shown and lift it off. Keeping the filters clean will improve the suction power of your Breeze vacuum. There are two filters in the cleaner and it's really easy to find them and clean them. Start by removing and emptying the dust box. Press the release button at the top of the dust container and take to your dustbin or a bin bag. Press the catch at the top and the flap at the bottom will open releasing the dust. Shake the container to remove all of the dust inside. So let’s carry on with our Hoover WRE06 Whirlwind Evo Upright Vacuum Cleaner review and explore the product’s pricing. The funky red bin has a respectable 1.5-litre capacity and lifts cleanly out of the main body for emptying. Well, eventually. This thing is compact. That applies not only to the Hoover Whirlwind SE71 cleaner itself, but equally to the tool and accessory count. In the box you’ll find a hose, tubes and just two tools: a small multi-purpose carpet and hard-floor head, and the ubiquitous (among cheap cylinder cleaners) microscopic combined crevice and brush tool. The re is also a filter found at the rear of the cleaner where the warm air escapes. Unclip the filter cover as shown.

The second filter is found in the lid of the duct container. First remove the container from the product by lifting the release catch on top as shown here.

Replace the bag and clean the filter

The first is brand. Looking at the brand of the product is often a really good indicator for judging product quality. For example you’d expect a much higher quality product from a brand known for providing excellent quality than you would from an unknown or even a budget brand. To keep your cleaner working effectively and giving the best possible suction we recommend that the duct container is emptied when it is 2/3 full and the filters are kept clean. To empty the dust box start by removing it from the cleaner by pressing the release trigger on top of the handle. The 1.4m hose is flexible and feels tough enough to withstand a fair bit of abuse. At one end is a simple curved plastic handle with suction-release slider, and on the other is a pinch-clip fitting to the cleaner body. The latter proved much easier to use than some other pinch-clip hose connectors we’ve tried, ensuring this cleaner can be easily dismantled for storage. With only two tools supplied with the vacuum, this is possibly the most frugally equipped cleaner we’ve ever tested. Although considering many people end up using only one or two most of the time anyway, maybe it isn’t such a silly idea.
