Some say that it is an unknown species of fish; others that it is a survivor from pre-historic times, possibly a plesiosaurus. By afternoon, the greatly outnumbered Scottish force had inflicted a crushing rout on an English army that, until then, had never known defeat. It is presumed that he is the ghost of the houses builder and original owner, a seafaring man who erected the property in 1820. This book contains both stories involving old and newer ghost-stories, a few of visions and premonitions, a couple involving sea-monsters and even a mermaid-story.
