Ruth's second novel, Us Three, was an instant Sunday Times bestseller in hardback and paperback and has sold almost a quarter of a million copies. Ruth's second novel, Us Three , was an instant Sunday Times bestseller in hardback and paperback and has sold almost a quarter of a million copies. Nothing much will it seems, but finding her true self is much more important and in that she also finds her love for her music.

I loved all the characters and did not see the twist in the story coming, so it was rather emotional for reasons I can’t go into without giving away the ending. The prime and proper headteacher whose daughter fails all but two exams and a husband who runs to play hippie. Her novels are full of wonderful characters and the stories so well written, much in the same vein as Graham Norton. This book has my heart and I plan to keep it to re read when I need reminding of how important our family is.Is she strong enough to reach out to her wayward daughter, now seventy years old, and heal the rift? Ruth Jones, you smashed this book, this was my first book I’ve read by Ruth, I’ll be going back to read the rest. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this, but I didn't find myself gripped like I did with her others.Love Untold tells the stories of four generations of women, mothers and daughters set in South Wales. The novel is set in Jones’s beloved Wales, and scattered with Welsh terms of endearment, which adds to the sensation of reading it wrapped in a comfort blanket. Thank you to NetGalley, Random House and the author Ruth Jones for the opportunity to review this wonderful book. But Grace’s granddaughter, Elin, is also estranged from Alys and any reconciliation will cause huge problems in the family.

Her 16 year old daughter Beca is about to fail her GCSE’s, her husband has started behaving strangely and her grandmother is secretly trying to track down Elin’s mother Alys before she turns 90, so the scene is set for some spectacular secrets to be revealed. Any mother or daughter will identify with many of the situations in this book and be encouraged by the final denouement. Thoughtful hug in a box care packages and gifts for every occasion, hand packed, beautifully gift wrapped and delivered directly to their door. When I started the book, I wasn’t that sure about the characters as Grace is easy to understand and love, however, the same can’t be said for her granddaughter, beautifully portrayed as a Head Teacher, following in her grandfather’s footsteps, whereas her daughter hates school and the tension between the two is palpable.

Dennoch war es mir zu sprunghaft, der häufige Wechsel zwischen den Zeiten, auch wenn ich natürlich verstehe, und schon früh ahnte, dass der Rückblick am Schluss notwendig ist, um nicht schon alles zu verraten. The reader is given windows into the thoughts and experience of each woman, but some of their secrets are only revealed later in the plot. Also found the colloquial grammer used whenever characters spoke irritating, ie the way all the gs were dropped - "nothin" "pickin" etc.

Meanwhile Grace’s great-grand-daughter Beca is oblivious to all these worries, too busy navigating the highs and lows of teenage life and keeping secrets of her own. She exudes warmth and wisdom, and reading this book makes you feel someone’s draped a warm overcoat across your shoulders.Widowed in her thirties, left to bring up a teenage daughter, Alys, she ran a boarding house with her friends John, and his sister Cassie for years until Cassie and John's ill-health forced them to move to a home where she visits them every day. The end of this story is incredibly moving and brought me to tears (and I have never cried over a book before). It is such a well written book, with the characters being fully formed and believable, it had me rooting for the best outcome for them all. Finally, Beca, sixteen years old, artistic and musical but not good at lessons, constantly at odds with perfectionist Elin who sees education as a gateway to the world, she knows she is about to fail all her GCSEs and disappoint her mother, again. Grace doesn’t want a traditional celebration for her birthday, but her granddaughter Elin has other ideas.
