Once again, the plot and storyline drew me in, keeping me turning page after page to find out what was going to happen next. Then, in the early hours of the summer solstice, the skeleton of a young woman is found inside the Roman Wall at Sycamore Gap. To add insult to injury, Ryan stood tall and lean beside him, adjusting the straps on his stab vest like he was James Bond’s better looking brother. Panic spreads like wildfire as a new serial killer is born, and Ryan’s band of detectives must work around the clock to unmask him before he can strike again. I remember the old bus station in Worswick Street but I never realised there was a church opposite until it was one of the settings in Angel.DCI Ryan and his team had finished The Circle, and for a short while, Northumberland CID are the darlings of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. There are a few references to what happened in the other books, but nothing that can't be worked out by the reader. When bodies start turning up, buried in graveyards and all looking similar, the police force realise that they have a serial killer on their hands. The lead character, Ryan, is very likeable and I want to keep reading the books in this series to see what he does next.

DCI Ryan and his team are absolutely one of the best fictional police teams I had the pleasure to read about.
