About this deal

Though I was born and raised in New York City, I've lived in SoCal for over ten years now and am proud to call this beautiful and diverse place my home. My husband and I have a son and baby daughter (whom I was 9 months pregnant with when this photo was taken!). Prior to becoming a mommy I spent several years in feature film publicity and acquisitions for Miramax and later as the Creative Executive for Hilary Swank Productions before seguing to the music industry where I did Online Communications for the GRAMMY Foundation and MusiCares. In my ample pre-parenthood free time, I also freelanced as a script analyst and screenwriter. Step 6: Spray paint the poncho in a camouflage pattern. I used the brightest green to cover the majority of the poncho with accents of brown and other greens. Let the poncho dry for at least 24 hours.

Step 1: Measure your child’s waist and add a couple extra inches for seam allowance. Draw a cummerbund shape onto a piece of paper. Use it as your pattern to cut out the cummerbund from the pleather fabric. You can create the center rectangular detail with just a piece of pleather itself or by covering a piece of craft foam with the pleather fabric (which will make it sturdier). Add details with acrylic paint or fabric maker. Hot glue the rectangular detail onto the belt. Then hand-sew or hot glue velcro to the ends of the belt.Step 4: Place the strip onto the inflated beach ball. Smooth out any bumps or creases with your fingers or a paintbrush. Repeat this step until the entire beach ball is covered with a layer of strips. For the second layer, place the strips horizontally and for the third layer, place the strips vertically. Alternating the direction of the strips will make the paper mache structure sturdier. Medium gray vest with cap sleeves. Vest is made of a light to medium-weight matte fabric (cotton or cotton blend recommended).

Now making making a poncho, that shouldn't be too hard, but of course as always with costuming there are some hidden complications. This costume is often referenced and recognized as a significant part of Leia’s character arc in “Return of the Jedi”. It has become a symbol of her role as a strong and resilient leader within the Rebel Alliance. This gown is worn by Princess Leia Organa when she is aboard the Rebel Alliance’s medical frigate after the Battle of Hoth. The gown is predominantly white with a high collar, reflecting the medical staff’s attire on the frigate. Leia wears this gown while recovering from injuries sustained during the battle. This step took a few tries to get right. I didn’t want to over cut and end up with super tight sleeves and a snug body shape. I used an old queen size sheet that was earmarked for textile recycling at H&M anyway. Because of my height, I had to fold it diagonally to make sure it was long enough. I had no problem cutting the bottom corners off though so this was not an issue and saved me having to go out to buy a new piece of cloth. Note that you don’t need to line up the side edges perfectly since you’ll be cutting them off anyway! Cut out the head hole

When I made my Endor commando and Rebel Briefing Leia my plan was of course to also make the full Leia Endor battle outfit, the only thing missing after all was the poncho. Well that was almost two years ago now, but I've finally made the poncho, or at least the fabric start. It also helped that I have around 20 meters of a sturdy cotton that I need to get into more managable piecec, it's the table cloth from my sister's wedding. This step is much easier said than done, and was by far the hardest part of this DIY No Sew Easy Princess Leia costume. I admit I literally sweated a bit during this stage, until I realized that no one was going to see a slightly crooked or rumpled seam. I loved being Endor Leia, especially when you have the cutest little ewok. In case you have missed our family Halloween theme for our costumes this year we are doing Return of the Jedi . My boys were really excited and wondered if I was going to be Leia when she visits Jabba the Hut. As in Slave Leia. Not really my style. I told them I was going to be Endor Leia. I have already been the traditional Leia and I wanted to switch it up.

Princess Leia wears her most iconic of all costumes, the Classic white dress with space buns in the very first Star Wars movie released in 1977, titled “Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.” The gown that Princess Leia wears in Star Wars is commonly known as her “Princess Leia white gown” or “Princess Leia’s white dress.” It was made of white crepe-de chine fabric and was designed by John Mollo. Step 1: Tear the newspaper into long strips, approximately 1-inch wide. You’ll need enough strips to make 3-4 layers on the beach ball. Princess Leia, the iconic character from Star Wars is such a strong character that many women want to be like her – and sometimes the least one can do is try to emulate her clothes. This gown is very similar to the Classic Leia that she wears in ‘A New Hope’. However, she wears a single bun with it. This gown differs from the classic Leia gown in that, it is made of a heavier fabric (Cotton sateen). It also has a shorter collar and less wider sleeves. Since I've seen that this topic is one of the most viewed I would like to make a public announcement.Woman costuming as Princess Leia ; embed from https://www.deviantart.com/glittersweet/art/Leia-84509254 Step 3: Dip a newspaper strip into the mixture and remove any excess mixture by sliding your fingers from the top to the bottom of the strip.
