About this deal

Paramount are bringing out a Smile 4K Ultra HD Steelbook later this month in the UK, it comes with both 4K UHD and Blu-ray discs including the feature film. The film stars Sosie Bacon as a therapist named Rose Cotter, who, after witnessing the bizarre suicide of a patient, goes through increasingly disturbing and daunting experiences, leading her to believe what she is experiencing is supernatural.

Sure, it’s actually a pretty silly premise, but Finn’s deft direction, whip-smart script, and technical prowess always keeps things fun and engaging as we watch – through parted fingers – Rose’s life unravel. The movie itself is creepy enough that it already has the viewer on edge, but the audio really reels them in. At any rate, what we’ve got is a semi-original premise, a few good jump scares and enough uneasiness to ruin more than just one night.Noises from empty houses or wood that creaks towards the end of the film all make for wonderful sounds. Flies on the Wall: Inside the Score — In the “this isn’t false advertising” department, you’re literally a fly on the wall as we see the score crafted in some rather avant garde ways. Anderson of Common Sense Media also gave the film 2 out of 5 stars, writing: "The image of a creepy, sinister smile is so primal and so chilling that it might have inspired something truly penetrating, but, sadly, this horror movie is content to fall back on noisy jump scares.
