About this deal

When going through Stewart's solo early solo records I'm always wary that maybe this one will be the one in which he abandons his early sound for the money-chasing of his later career. Some listeners missed the Faces-style rootsy charm of his previous records, yet Crossing's success — coupled with guitarist Ron Wood joining the Rolling Stones— put the writing on the wall for the band, as well as Stewart's increasingly commercial focus on subsequent efforts. Their second album, 'Beck-Ola' followed in June 1969, peaking again at Number 15 in the US Albums Chart and placing at Number 39 in the UK Albums Chart.

The roguish peacock rocker of “Alright for an Hour” and “Three Time Loser” is happy to drop his defenses for the heartbreaking folk of “I Don’t Want to Talk About It” and the wistful “Sailing. There's also his light cover of 'This Old Heart of Mine', with is pleasant, if a little lacking of the Isley Brothers' original. He later confirmed he would be singing some of the tracks featured on the Jeff Beck Groups first two albums, 'Truth' and 'Beckola'. The vinyl records come packaged in an iridescent box with Rod Stewart foil-stamped on the cover, his blonde shaggy haircut in gold and his leopard-print suit shimmering in silver! The steel string fingerpicking in I Don't Want to Talk About It, along with the electronic string arrangement and the weeping electric guitar creates a mellow atmosphere.

I really like the fast side, but the guitar arrangements on top of the melodic power of "I Don't Want to Talk About It" still get me as well as the gospel influence of "Sailing". Sir Rod Stewart has sold over 120 million records worldwide with songs such as 'You're In My Heart', 'Hot Legs' and 'I Was Only Joking'. This era features many of the singer’s best-known tracks, including ‘Sailing’, ‘I Don’t Want to Talk About It’, ‘I Was Only Joking’, ‘The First Cut Is the Deepest’, ‘You’re in My Heart’, ‘Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?

What doesn't help is that the ballads sound considerably slicker, even though the whole thing is definitely slicker than his earlier records. It's Not The Spotlight" and "Still Love You" both unconvincingly attempt to reintroduce the mandolin to his sound which so characterised earlier hits.La cara A, la llama Fast Side y son canciones más movidas, a mi juicio, sin demasiada trascendencia. Anyway, Pearl Jam are apparently big Rod Stewart fans because Stewart does that thing that Pearl Jam are always accused of doing: he front-loads the faster, rockier songs and back-loads the ballads. and of scene (from London to Los Angeles), Atlantic Crossing boasts both a new producer and supporting musical cast.

In 2018, he released his album 'Blood Red Roses', and followed it up with 'The Tears of Hercules' which came out on 12th November 2021. However, it wasn't meant to be, as after Rod Stewart was delegated to just a harmonica player, he left the band in 1965. With the split-up of Faces and his last UK recorded album "Smiler" a critical and comparative commercial failure, Rod made like the album title and recorded this album in Memphis under the stewardship of Tom Dowd, the man behind Eric Clapton's successful comeback album "461 Ocean Boulevard". Even as we envy his outgoing, big-winner’s style, we revel in the knowledge he provides via self-mockery that he can lose as often and as badly as we do. From the album 'Atlantic Crossing', Rod Stewart released 'Sailing' in 1975 despite being reluctant to do so.Stewart starts things off with what is arguably his finest rocker to date, “Three Time Loser,” a randy, rowdy, genial, and genital rouser about — of all things! If anything's going to make it lose a tiebreak with other Rod albums with the same rating, it is a little bit covers-heavy including 3/5 of the slow side. That just leaves the two original single releases from it, the first, "Sailing" another good spot in transforming the almost unknown Sutherland Brothers song into a scarf-waving anthem and the second a twinkling slow-burn version of the Motown classic "This Old Heart Of Mine" although years later he would take it at the original speed in conjunction with original singer Ronald Isley. Maybe it's the byproduct of following one of his weakest early efforts, but Rod sounds so rejuvenated here in his first effort for Warners after the disappointing Smiler. In 2020, Rod Stewart closed The BRITS, and he had another legendary gig in 2022 when he performed at Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee concert.

Then there's the classic 'I Don't Want To Talk About It', which became a UK number one 2 years later (On the day I was born, incidentally). He also shares Ruby Stewart with Kelly Emberg, as well as Renee Cecili Stewart and Liam McAlister Stewart with Rachel Hunter. I just watched the Muscle Shoals documentary and found out the Swampers and have just seen that the MG's are on this album. Vote up content that is on-topic, within the rules/guidelines, and will likely stay relevant long-term. Dobie Gray’s “Drift Away” fits seamlessly with Dowd’s radio-ready schematic and Stewart sounds fairly comfortable in his new surroundings, if not completely settled.

La cara B en cambio, llamada Slow Side, son esos temas míticos compuestos por otros y dónde Rod Stewart brilla como la estrella baja bragas que es.
