I rate this product very highly, but for the control of lawn moss in a garden where pets spend time, I feel it’s the best product out there. Scatter granules evenly over the whole lawn every 3-4 weeks while the grass is growing (February to September).

Boiling water is perfect for killing weeds on patios, concrete and other hard surfaces. You can’t use it on lawns, though, and there’s a risk of damage to plants if used in a dense flowerbed. If you’re looking for a lawn fertiliser that also does a great job at eliminating pesky weeds and moss, go with Guard-en-Force. A kilo of this stuff will cover (and get rid of) around 500 square metres of moss. Keep in mind that this effective weed-killing product kills all plants at the root, so you want to avoid using it on plants and grass you want to keep (or cover them up if need be, as we did while testing). It's also recommended to not mow the treated areas for at least a week, but you can plant new flowers or shrubs after 24 hours. This product should not be used near edible plants. Like all weed killers, make sure to keep it out of reach of kids and pets and wait a full 24 hours to dry before letting them near the treated areas. Aside from these few downsides, we think this is an excellent budget-friendly, effective weed killer. I sprinkled MO Bacter onto the grass, and over the following weeks, I could see the moss breaking down, I then overlaid any bare patches with grass seed which germinated in the decomposing moss. This product is safe for children and pets, however, it’s good practice to wash hands and skin after use and store all garden products out of reach in a dry, frost-free place. You can use it all year round if desired, but be careful where you open the tub – some customers have mentioned that accidental spillages inside the house left rust-like stains. It’s also advised to keep children and pets away until at least 96 hours after application and watering.
