About this deal

We listened to more songs than those named in this playlist, but those are excellent for identifying a sonic signature. PRaT, Texturization, Detail, Resolution, Dynamics, Impact, and overall tonality are all revealed by those songs. We recommend trying most of the songs from this playlist, especially if you’re searching for new music! According this thread, the sound can be improved by some custom work / modding but me personally I would not go this way. On the other side, I would love to compare the original sound with the modded one. They are some good articles in this thread on how to do this. The Denon AH-D7200 are top-notch headphones. From the extraordinarily resolved ergonomics, the high-quality sound to the fact that Denon made no savings on parts and technology. However, because of the speed and transparency of the speaker units themselves, but also the closed design of the headphones, one should also be a little patient about the overall set-up. I also hope to test the headphones with which they will celebrate 100 years of their production. I’m really interested.

The pads aren’t just pleather - they are constructed with a memory foam base, then wrapped in a stitched leather that was constructed specifically for the AH-D7200. The term “Free edge” refers to the physical edge of the driver itself, which does away with the traditional rubber surround that a driver usually employs. I have been listening to lot of high quality .flac music, all kinds of different genres and also enjoying them while watching movies and little bit of gaming. The good news doesn’t end there, either. The headband isn’t just some plastic strap - it’s solid aluminium, with both natural sheepskin leather on the outside, and stitched engineered leather on the inside. Oh, in case you were wondering: The AH-D7200 doesn’t fold, or flatten. And why should they? They look spectacular and should be sitting proudly on your shelf, not stored away in a bag somewhere.Despite only being supplied with a 6.35mm cable, the AH-D7200 is surprisingly easy to drive, and they don't require heavy amplification. Using an adapter, even a humble smartphone can drive the headphone to sufficient levels. It would have been nice to see an option of a 3.5mm cable included as well, for some added flexibility.

Based on my ears and quite a lot of tweaking / experimenting, I have improved the EQ settings a bit further (version 2 attached). As part of Denon’s reference range, the D7200 claims a relatively flat frequency response, offering accurate sound – just as the artists intended. Listening to a variety of music genres, the sound is clear and detailed, with punchy but not overbearing bass, and its natural clarity is surely aided by the real-wood ear cups. This can leaks some sound but it offers great passive isolation, shutting out quite a bit of external noise. The B&W P9s may have an exuberant low-end, but they handle rhythm and dynamics with greater accuracy and control. They’ve got more punch. And they get across the true intent of a song more faithfully than the Denons. Denon AH-D7200 is the flagship Dynamic Headphone for Bassheads made by Denon. It is priced at 700 USD, and it will be compared to Beyerdynamic Amiron, Sennheiser HD660S, Dan Clark Aeon Flow, and Harmonic Dyne Zeus. With the AH D7200, Denon brings a similar design from its previous model and expands on its depth. There are more inconsistencies with the sound signature, especially in the mids, but it shines with its extension and more immediate grasp on the sound. I’m not certain this is a substantial upgrade from the D5200, but it will definitely be one to choose for its level of intricate layering and textured response. Pros

Denon also brings over its FreeEdge driver technology to the D7200. It features a 50mm unit with a nanofiber diaphragm for low rigidity and mass. The signal is produced from the driver with a piston-like accuracy, minimizing distortion. Soundstage These drivers are made from a nanofiber material - a material that was chosen for its rigidity and low mass. They are mounted onto custom-made resin baffles, designed to eliminate all vibrations being transferred to the cup.

Why is Denon AH-D7200 better than Focal Elegia?

I am also considering ZMF Pilot Pad but I can see its a bit too wide and I might have to fill it in with something to make it more wider. Denon began its tradition in audio production in 1910, and to this day has produced a huge number of all-purpose components, but 50 years ago they started designing and manufacturing headphones. The tested model is so anniversary, but with its solutions and sound and a clear reminiscence of the days when Denon incorporated drivers from the famous manufacturer Fostex in his models. During this period, they produced several legendary models that are still famous for their best and most interesting designs. We have an opportunity to listen and review Denon AH-D5200 recently, so we can say that the tested headphones sound quite similar to the models from that period. Build Quality The 2nd EQ I am sharing here is my own after few days of playing with settings and trying them on different genres of music and sound. The idea behind it is to make them sound less dark, open them up little bit and make them sound close to the flagship the D9200. I am sure you can achieve even better sound if you havent already. In that case please DO SHARE your EQ settings with us. If you try these settings I created and then try to turn OFF / ON the EQ you will see the quite pleasant difference. Its like somebody opens them up, I like this result a lot. But again please somebody improve this further I would be very interested. Hey guys, I have tried to play with the EQ for the Denon D7200. I had issues to actually install and run the Equalizer APO for my new DAC but it was down to the missing drivers. The APO is a great software to EQ the whole system rather than just music player or other software. It can enable by itself as soon as you turn on your computer, great stuff. Also can anybody recommend some headband cover for these? Especially, leather would be nice. I know about ZMF Pilot is there anything else?

I just want to ask if somebody can compare the D7200 vs D9200 in terms of treble.... aren't they too fatiguing? For me D7200 are bright enough. When I use my EQ settings and switch it ON / OFF it sounds like somebody close the door in my ears. Small tweak but the difference is significant. I had tried more harsh sounding recordings with stronger highs and they were not ear piercing to me (only if I raised the EQ's db then it start hurting my ears.) Again, that is the setting that works for me well, I am sure others might tweak it even further.Denon’s engineers designed this new model from the ground up, with two goals in mind: supreme sound quality, and ultimate comfort.
