About this deal

To Store: Once thechocolateis set completely and broken into pieces, store your Halloween candy bark in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 weeks. If you prefer to leave theHalloween candy bark on the counterat room temperature it will last for about 5 days. Sweet (Candy) Eyes - At this time of year it's easy to find fun eyeball shaped sweets - I found the jelly eyes below in our pound shop, and I've also seen lots of chocolate eyeballs around. With a bit of imagination you can find eyes in other sweets too, from fried eggs, dolly mixtures and smarties to chocolate buttons and flying saucers - anything round would work! These eyes can be stored for many months when they are finished. They should be dried either in the oven at low heat, or just on the kitchen table, and when completely dry, they can be put in an airtight container or jar. Jelly (Jello) Eyes - Serve up creepy jelly eyeballs by themselves or use to bring a gory twist to bowls of yoghurt or ice-cream. For full details and my tutorial see the original blog post here.

Candy Eyeballs Icing Decorations - 0.5oz - Favorite Day™ Candy Eyeballs Icing Decorations - 0.5oz - Favorite Day™

Egg white – I like to use pasteurized because it is easy and one is not left with a lot of egg yolks. But you can use fresh eggs and divide them into yolks and whites. Halloween-themed Candy: Hershey’s tombstone chocolate bars and Reese’s pumpkins and ghosts add extra Halloween spirit to the bark. Seasonal candy sprinkles and Halloween novelty items like edible bones and candy corn also add some festive fun. I am of the belief that that if you want to do one simple thing to make food fun and to make the recipient smile, that one thing is to add eyes. Eyes in unexpected places are funny, they just are! At this time of year eyes or eyeballs can also add a creepy element to Halloween food. Over the last few weeks I have posted several new edible eyeball ideas here on the Eats Amazing blog - as I said before, I started brainstorming and couldn't stop! In today's post I'm going to gather them all up in one place, and add a few final eye themed food ideas for good measure. Using a teaspoon, fill your squeezy bottle with icing. Squeezing gently, carefully drop the icing in rows onto the prepared baking trays, taking care to leave a gap between each drop so that they don't run together. I had a few run into each other, so after that increased the distance between them slightly. This may take a bit of trial and error, but don't worry too much about getting them all a uniform size, I deliberately tried various sizes out, even making a few jumbo ones when I got bored! I thought it would be great to have a range of sizes, it adds to the charm! Refill the bottle with icing when necessary. Start out by whisking together the sugar, starch, water and extracts (if using). Mix together into a smooth icing.

Now I did promise two different kinds of edible eyes, and if the project above seems a bit to much effort for you right now, I have the perfect solution for you. These eyes take literally seconds to make, use only two ingredients, and they are even self-adhesive! It only takes minutes to make this easy Halloween dessert –no baking or fancy equipment required. I like to decorate my bark with candies that are colorful and have different flavors and textures. And I especially love that I can feed a large group of costumed kids by using my leftover candy. Scary never tasted so sweet! Why We Love This Halloween Bark Recipe Large Baking Sheet – A baking sheet is ideal because it’s a large flat surface that can be moved around as needed. Marshmallow Eyeballs - These eyeballs are a fun treat to make with children and would be great for a Halloween party! For full details and my recipe see the original blog post here.

Portion out a couple of tablespoons worth of the icing mixture and add to a small mixing bowl. Add the cocoa powder or food colouring to the small bowl and combine to create the pupil colour. Frozen Yoghurt Eyeballs - Halloween desserts don't have to be full of sugar - these gory edible eyeballs are made from frozen natural yoghurt and raisins. For full details and my tutorial see the original blog post here. To Freeze: Place pieces of Halloween candy bark in a plastic freezer bag and place it in the freezer. It will last a long time; maybe even until next Halloween! This project was far easier than I thought possible. Never one to do things by halves, I filled three trays with the eyes, and now I have literally hundreds of edible icing eyes, which should keep me going for a while! Do watch out for their appearance in some of my Halloween projects this month! Make it Nutty: Top your bark with your favorite nuts, like almonds, pecans, walnuts hazelnuts, pistachios, macadamias, cashews or peanuts. Pipe out the white dots until you fill the tray. Don’t worry about making them all uniform – that’s just part of the fun of googly eyes! To make, take a mini marshmallow, cut in half, and dot each half with your edible marker pen. That's it, instant edible eyes! Start by lining a couple of baking trays with greaseproof paper. To keep mine from moving around during such a delicate task, I secured the paper to the trays with a bit of sellotape.
