About this deal

Nine is a musical initiated by and with music and lyrics by Maury Yeston and a book by Arthur Kopit. It is based on the 1963 film 8½. The Phoenix Theatre in Arizona revived Nine in the spring of 2011, starring Craig Laurie (Guido), Patti Davis Suarez (Mother), Jeannie Shubitz (Luisa), Kim Manning (Liliane), Jenny Hintze (Claudia), and Johanna Carlisle (Saraghina). [20] In 1991, she co-starred in her first American network dramatic television series, the short-lived CBS sitcom Princesses. Of eight episodes completed, only five aired. (Her Princesses co-star, Fran Drescher, later spent some time with Twiggy and her family in England while developing Drescher's hit series The Nanny, and modelled the character Maxwell Sheffield on Twiggy's husband Leigh Lawson.) [43] [44] The new plan was working. His emotional detachment had redoubled after the crushing death of his wife (happiness through the aptly named Grace was a potential escape ramp taken away from him either by fate, or a Russian curse, or – what he suspects deep-down – by Tommy himself), and on he ploughed, led by pragmatism, not loyalty or personal conviction. He became a millionaire industrialist and a member of parliament. He started using his brain to win debates and pass legislation. Powerful people began to take notice of him, wanting to use his talent to further their cause. And that’s when everything changed. Gary Cooper was called the "Montana Mule" for a reason. Milton Berle supposedly had 10 inches. Who are some other actors you have heard were hung huge? by Anonymous

Cut to Arthur, that same episode, in that same house, shooting dead a Soviet spy in the wine cellar, then burning the body in the extensive grounds of Tommy’s stately home. (This was the same Arthur, incidentally, who was strictly on the wagon following his marriage to pious Quaker Linda—sarcastically dubbed by John “the Madonna of Moseley”—but who had a few whiskies at the wedding “to remind him why he doesn’t drink”.) The Shelby family may have aspired to change in series three, but, as is this series’ perennial question: is it ever really possible to change from who you once were? Twiggy remains in the forefront of fashion for women of her age. [49] She was one of the few famous celebrities to survive being cut from the Marks & Spencer fashion team in 2009–2010, when Dannii Minogue joined her for the spring/summer women's wear campaign. [50] [51] On April 12, 2007, Variety announced that Rob Marshall would direct a feature film adaptation of Nine for the Weinstein Company. Marshall had previously directed Chicago for the Weinsteins while they were still at Miramax. The screenplay is written by Anthony Minghella with Michael Tolkin serving as an uncredited co-scripter. The cast consists of Academy Award winners Daniel Day-Lewis, Marion Cotillard, Penélope Cruz, Judi Dench, Nicole Kidman, and Sophia Loren, with Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe winner Kate Hudson and Grammy winning singer Fergie. [29] Among other cast changes in the film version, the character of Mama Maddelena does not appear, and Claudia's surname was changed from Nardi to Jenssen. The script makes Guido 50 (Day-Lewis's actual age), not 40 as in the stage original. The film's final coda is more hopeful and optimistic than the stage version. In addition, director Marshall cut most of the original production's score, with only "Overture delle Donne," "Guido's Song," "A Call from the Vatican," "Folies Bergeres," "Be Italian," "My Husband Makes Movies," "Unusual Way," and an extended version of "I Can't Make This Movie" making it into the final edit of the film. Composer Maury Yeston wrote three new songs for the movie including "Cinema Italiano," "Guarda la Luna" to replace the title song, and "Take It All" in place of "Be On Your Own," as well as the instrumental concluding the film. The film is co-produced by Marshall's own production company Lucamar Productions. The film was released in the US on December 18, 2009, in New York and Los Angeles and opened for wide release on December 25, 2009.

Arthur’s Quaker wife Linda was revealed to be a very clever, skilled manipulator. She cut a better financial deal with Tommy on Arthur’s behalf than he ever would have, and inspired the Shelby women to walk out on strike on Good Friday in support of Jessie Eden’s women’s action. Linda planned for her, Arthur and the baby to emigrate to California, where she would work as a missionary and Arthur would run a general store and swim in the ocean, to rid him of “all the nonsense in his head from France”. Their California dream, though, wasn’t to be. Ada Shelby In January 1966, aged 16, she had her hair coloured and cut short in London at Leonard of Mayfair, [19] owned by celebrity hairdresser Leonard. [20] The hair stylist was looking for models on whom to try out his new crop haircut and he styled her hair in preparation for a few test head shots. [21] A professional photographer Barry Lategan took several photos for Leonard, which the hairdresser hung in his salon. Deirdre McSharry, a fashion journalist from the Daily Express, saw the images and asked to meet the young girl. [22] It was revived in July 2012 at the Southwark Playhouse, under the direction of Thom Southerland, with choreography by Lee Proud. The title roles were played by Norman Bowman and Laura Pitt-Pulford, with Jessica Martin as Lottie, Stuart Matthew Price as Frank Capra and Peter Kenworthy as William Desmond Taylor.

Twiggy then embarked on an acting and singing career, starring in a variety of roles on stage and screen, and recording albums. In 1971, she made her film debut as an extra, dressed as a male courtier, in Ken Russell's The Devils. The same year, she performed her first leading role as Polly Browne, in Russell's adaptation of Sandy Wilson's pastiche of 1920s hit musicals, The Boy Friend (1971). This marked her initial collaboration with Tommy Tune, and won her two Golden Globe Awards in 1972 ( New Star of the Year – Actress and Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy). Also in 1971, Twiggy released the single "Zoo de Zoo Zong", written by Roger Cook and Roger Greenaway, and credited to Twiggy and Friends. In 1974, she made her West End stage debut in Cinderella; made a second feature, the thriller W (co-starring with her future husband Michael Witney); and hosted her own British television series, Twiggs (later renamed Twiggy). Guido Contini, famous Italian film director, has turned forty and faces double crises: he has to shoot a film for which he can't write the script, and his wife of twenty years, the film star Luisa del Forno, may be about to leave him if he can't pay more attention to the marriage. As it turns out, it is the same crisis. Subsequent revisions of the show have changed some character names to their real life counterparts from the era.
