About this deal

I replaced a single makita charger that is past its best, decided to get one of these. As I use lots of 18v kit it’s handy having it nearby, each battery can be set with its own tone to sound when ready and has a USB port to allow you to charge your phone. Well priced too. Most Makita power tools are protected by “ STAR” protection, this detects conditions that threaten to over-load, over-dischargeor overheatthe tool or battery. The tool will automatically cease operation, this prevents any damage to the battery. My battery is making the charger flash red. This is supposed to mean it’s too hot, but it’s at room temperature and another battery stored with it is charging fine.

Wood by name, wood by nature. I am a fully qualified, time-served, award-winning joiner with an NVQ Level 3 in Carpentry and Joinery as well as an HNC in Construction. Beyond my joinery qualifications, I have also earned a degree in building surveying. This really is a great charger I have friends that have fake chargers and they are still waiting for the battery to be fully charged 2 days later I know it’s a lot more money But it’s definitely worth it The Makita DC18RD twin 18v Li-ion charger, charges 2 Makita 18 volt LXT lithium-ion batteries simultaneously. The rapid charge technology selects the optimum voltage and current and temperature is controlled by the forced air system that circulates air through the battery to prevent overheating. and a full charge sound alert confirms when the charge cycle is complete. MAKITA DC18RD FEATURESFlashing red light on a Makita DC18RC battery charger signals a Delay in charging. This can happen if the battery is either too hotor too cold. If the battery is belowor abovethe ideal operating temperature charging may not start. So you’ve just got a Makita charger or maybe you’re borrowing someone else’s tools. You plug the battery into the charger and are greeted with lots of flashing, or solid lights, all meaning different things. But what do they mean, well I got my charger out and showed the different lights. Makita Battery Charger fully- charged solid green light Red, Green and Yellow (All lights) on Makita Battery Charger DC18RC

When the temperature of the battery is extremely hot, more than approx. 70°C, two charging lights may start flashing red. When the temperature drops to 50°C – 70°C, one charging light will flash red. Leave the battery to stand for a while to cool down before attempting to recharge. Flashing Red and Green lights on Makita battery charger DC18RCMakita Battery Charger – Ready to charge, Flashing green light Solid Red light on Makita Charger (DC18RC) Twin charger with rapid charge technology. Designed to charge 2 Makita LXT lithium batteries simultaneously. Features electronic current limiter for overload protection and forced cooling system. LED charging display and full charge sound alert. Inserted battery has Over-discharged, this can happen if the power tool has not detected that the battery is low and continued to drain power from it.

If the Yellow light does not flash, it could indicate that it is “ conditionally charging” the battery. The battery can be charged in spite of the yellow warning light. But the charging time will be longer than usual in this case. To keep your batteries running at their best, the DC18RD has a forced cooling system to prevent overheating and the electronic current limiter prevents the chance of overload. Both of these factors will give your batteries a longer service life. Sold as a single unit. Makita battery charger – 0ver 80% charged solid red and green light Solid Green light on Makita Battery Charger DC18RCA single Flashing green light means that the charger is in standby mode. It is connected to an AC power supply and is ready to start chargingyour batteries.

This is how the charger looks when plugged in but with no battery in it. The green light will flash continuously, this just means the charger is plugged in but there is no battery inserted in it. A (dusty) Makita battery charger Solid Red Light The DC18RD Dual port charger is capable of charging two Makita 18V batteries, simultaneously, and it will recharge both in the same time as with their actively cooled rapid charger.

Congratulations! if you have a solid redand solid greenlight next to each other it means that your battery is over 80%charged. If you are desperate for your battery you can take it off charge now and get your job done. Or you can leave it till you get a solid green light signaling the battery is 100% fully charged. This two port fast charger that is able to charge two Makita slide style Li-ion and Ni-MH batteries (with adapter) at the same time, as fast as DC18RC charges one battery. The solid green light will appear on its own when the battery has finished charging. The charging light will change from solid redto solid greenand the melody soundor buzzer sound (a long beep) will come out to notify completion of charge. Product dimensions are stated with a battery / batteries, if they affect the overall dimensions of the product. A solid red light means a battery is being charged. It also tells you that the battery is currently below 80% charged. Solid Red Means Charging – Battery is Below 80% Charged Solid Red & Green Lights
