About this deal

I was scared this was going to be boring, I mean, I almost knew they didn't even kiss but boy, I was waaaaaaaaay wrong, I didn't even need it. I don’t want to give away any more than that other than to say that Gemma hates Ty, but then eventually comes to understand and need him, possibly even have feelings for him. Ty is an odd character who is both a gentleman and a captor at times. Though he does want Gemma to want to be with him. So he gives her a separate bedroom and sometimes lets her have her way, but in the end it is only to teach her a lesson when she doesn’t believe the things he tells her and how dangerous it can be.

Stolen - An Award Winning Thriller by Lucy Christopher.

Half of the book is about sand and trees and leaves, and the other half is about expecting something that never comes. With the help of her grandfather, Isla constructs swan wings that she can wear to teach her swan how to fly, reporting on her progress to both her father and to Harry. As the book approaches its denoument, readers have three “patients” about whom to worry: Isla’s much-loved dad, the infectiously optimistic Harry, and the faithful and intrepid swan. It's confusing how this book makes you feel so much compassion for something so terribly wrong. That's the entire point though. I have a feeling a lot of people haven't read this because it's a middle-grade novel, technically, but if you're avoiding this book because of its age group...

But I hated you for something else, too. Right then, and at every moment since you'd left me, all I could think about was you. I wanted you in that apartment. I wanted your arms around me, your face close to mine. I wanted your smell. And I knew I couldn't- shouldn't-have it. That's what I hated most. The uncertainty of you. You'd kidnapped me, put my life in danger... but I loved you, too. Or thought I did. None of it made sense.” Still, as you read about him, he's nothing but a broken human being in need of love and care and god damn did he make my eyes sweat. No matter what he did, I felt pity and hurt for him. And how many times did I wish Gemma just loved him and made everything better.

Lucy Christopher is a British/Australian author best known for her novel Stolen, which won the Branford Boase award 2010 in the UK, and the 2010 Gold Inky in Australia. Her second book, Flyaway, was shortlisted for the 2010 Costa Book Awards and the 2010 Waterstone's Children's Book Prize. [1] [2] She currently lives between Australia and the United Kingdom and has just finished her first book for an adult audience, RELEASE. I want Lucy Christopher to write a sequel. She can't leave it like this! But, at the same time I don't really want her to. It's actually the ending--that tear-jerking, heart-wrenching ending--that made the book so unique and unforgettable. I don't want that to be ruined. The Harry section: Harry has cancer, and his own room at the children's ward. He meets Isla while she is waiting in the hospital, and she is immeadiately intrigued. I really liked Harry; his character was confident and unafraid of everything, until he faces his own problems. Lucy Christopher’s sophomore novel, Flyaway, is just as breathtakingly beautiful as her first. Though in a very different way. But, i have to say that in the end, i did like him, because of one thing: He never made her do something against her will, except to stay with him.

The ending... oh boy that ending. I just didn’t want it to end there. I NEED MORE!!! Yes I was crying, crying like a little baby... After the kiss Gemma and Ty shared, I really had hope she would try to get him out of this, but the ending didn’t show that happening. :( Stolen was one of the first books I ever reviewed and I absolutely fell in love with Christopher’s dreamy, lyrical prose and well-defined characters. I had put off reading Flyaway as I was nervous the book would never live up to Stolen, which I loved. Though I wouldn’t say Flyaway quite had the same impact on me as Stolen did (though I think it would be almost impossible for another book to be as intense as Stolen is) I really did enjoy Flyaway and am still a huge fan of Christopher’s writing. When I think of Gemma the first word that comes to mind is brave. To be put in that situation at 16 I don't know if I could have handled it with as much strength as she did. She never gave up hope for escape even when her feelings towards Ty began to change.Lucy is clearly a master of imagery. I knew this from some stunning scenes in , but she really cemented herself as a favourite after Flyaway. Some of the most stand out images for me are Isla and Harry teaching their swan to fly and when Isla’s Dad tells her the myth of the swansong. I won’t spoil it and tell you what it is, but it’s truly special and I still catch myself thinking about it over a week after finishing it. Staino, Rocco (29 June 2011). If I tell you I'm about to fly to San Diego to work on the screenplay of Stolen .... would you be excited?
