About this deal

For me, Jay is a fantastic hero. You know the mental workload problem we just began to put a word to ? You can never accuse him to be responsible for it. He does his part in paying attention to Elise's needs and desires and help her with lots of things. Don't know if it comes naturally to him or not, but no matter what, the important thing is that he's attentive and he relieve her of the burden. After falling in love with the bridesmaids behaving badly series I was SO excited to read this novella. Although, I haven’t read Once upon a bride yet I just couldn’t wait to get my hands on this novella. I’ve been wanting to know more about this couple since the first book in the series! When I heard about this novella, I was disappointed because I really wanted Jay and Elise to have their own full length novel. However, Jenny Holiday didn’t disappoint I adored this novella. It was beautiful, heartbreaking, and relatable. After getting glimpses of Jay and Elise in the other books in the series I knew there was more to this couple and I was right. What I loved most about this novella was learning more about their relationship, they’re so in sync with each other they can communicate without even speaking to each other. They protect and love each other so hard that it made me cry and smile. I am in love with their love but this book wasn’t easy to read. I loved how this novel showed a couple experience something that many couples go through. I also loved the topic of people in relationships changing which is something that definitely happens. Jay and Elise agreed that they didn’t want to have children but Elise finds out that she’s pregnant. Jay and Elise had some difficult decisions to make about their relationship and what they truly wanted. The Encores! staged concert at New York City Center ran from February 8 to 19, 2012. This production was directed by James Lapine and featured Colin Donnell as Frank, Celia Keenan-Bolger as Mary, Lin-Manuel Miranda as Charley, Elizabeth Stanley as Gussie, and Betsy Wolfe as Beth. This version incorporated parts of revisions done for the 1985 La Jolla Playhouse production and 1990 and 1994 productions. [39] Many members of the original production were invited to attend on February 14 and joined the Encores! cast and Sondheim on stage following the performance to sing "Old Friends."

While I enjoyed this Cathy Bramley read, I'm afraid it wasn't on par with her previous two novels. The addition to Merry's story felt nice and I loved her connection with Emily. But I cannot give this book more than 3 stars simply because of one character - RAY. I don't know what Cathy Bramley was trying to do there, but he's a deadbeat dad who never did anything for the women he impregnated. You don't get to romanticize that. You don't get to romanticize the trauma Merry and partly, Emily, were put through because of him. You get up your bottom, find a job, and you support the people you've taken responsibility for. Otherwise, careful where you spread your seed. Elise’s yearning for snow and who Jay is with Elise compared to who is with others also told me a lot about these characters and what formed them. There were so many special touches, like dirty Scrabble and the LEGO kit, that showed how good Jay and Elise are together and for each other. Plus, Jay’s grand gesture at the end was everything! Once again, I didn't expect to love this novella so much. It shouldn't be a surprise, because I enjoyed tremendously every stories in this series but I'm still amazed about how hard I felt for Jay and Elise and I wouldn't never expected it when I first met them in One And Only, where Elise was a bridezilla and Jay appeared like a serious and rigid guy. But that's the author's talent at work : she showed us perfectly with this novella and remind us that when you're in love, you see a person differently than the way others see her. You get to see all of the parts of this person while the rest of the world only see a few. For example, if I saw them on the streets, I probably wouldn't envy them, but seeing "the inside" made me see one of the most healthy and interesting love relationship. What I also liked about the MC's relationship is that even though they're total workaholic, they both agree that when they're together, they're 100% together and present with each other. The 2017 film Lady Bird includes a school production of Merrily We Roll Along in its story. [74] One of the students in the production was played by Feldstein. Berlin, Susan (September 11, 2007). "Review: 'Merrily We Roll Along' (Washington. D.C.)". Talkin' Broadway.Emily has settled for a secretary job as it fits better with her father. He has dementia and is becoming more confused, Emily looks after him but has to contemplate a change for him into a care home. Merrily We Roll Along is a 1981 American musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by George Furth. It is based on the 1934 play of the same name by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart. This is where Merry's and Emily's stories begin to interweave, with so many reveals and long held secrets exposed. It's beautifully done, with humour, and sensitivity and empathy. Cathy Bramley's ability to depict dementia is wonderfully done, there's touches of humour and sadness in equal measure.
