This coverall is constructed with a double layer of Nomex a flame-resistant meta-aramid material widely used for firefighters and racing car drivers’ uniforms, welders and in the oil and gas industry. The Proban® treated fabrics we produce are able to maintain their strength, colour and flame retardant properties over time, even when exposed to UV light, which makes our textiles suited to both indoor and outdoor work environments.Most coveralls such as the are 350gsm in fabric weight - which is good for the normal outdoor cold working climates. We also supply lightweight FR overalls - weighing only 250gm usually, such as the Bulwark 250gm Deluxe which is FR and also antistatic. We even do super lightweight coveralls, made of inherently (permanent) FR materials such as Aramids, Meta aramids and Nomex - which is as light as wearing a shirt - only 125gms. The Wenaas Nomex royal blue coverall only weighs 150gms. So what is Proban®? Proban® is a flame retardant chemical treatment that was developed in the 1950s; woven and knitted cotton or cotton blend fabrics are bulk treated at the finishing stage. It has a wide and almost all-encompassing range of applications, for industrial, sport, military uniforms and workwear, right through to civilian industries which include anything from hotels to hospitals and nursing homes. Essentially, anywhere there is a risk of fire or fire hazard, Proban® treated fabrics are useful to have in your corner. These garments adhere to industry standards, conforming to BS EN ISO 11612:2015 A1, A2, B1, C1 & F1, as well as BS EN ISO 11611:2015 Class 1 A1 & A2, ensuring your safety during various work applications Does the FR overall need to be inherent (permanently Flame retardant) - such as Modacrylic or Nomex or Protex or aramid? or will a "normal" cotton coverall, treated with Fr pyrovatex suffice? (This latter is the most popular, as the cotton is usually better value and arguably more comfortable to wear against the skin than manmade inherent fabrics;the pyrovatex coating on the cotton lasts about 50 washes. Over a year the Pyrotvatex may even outlast the garment itself. Layer Up: You wear FR garments to reduce your risk of skin burn. By layering - wearing layers of, ideally, Fr undergarments, such as FR polo shirt, or FR long johns, you further extend your life (!), and reduce your risk of skin burns. For these reasons, Proban® treated textiles are ideal for applications where personnel are at risk of being exposed to fire for short periods of time, and when the garment is expected to have a long service life. Applications like firefighting, or having Proban® overalls when working in the oil, gas, chemical, electric and petrochemical industries are ideally suited for use of Proban® treated fabrics.
