About this deal

Claygate is keen to grow its roster of directors. The salary is reasonable — you get a free evening each time you direct — and you obtain an opportunity to administer justice without the need for afancy uniform. For stronger games of bridge, clubs will hold open competitions on a periodic basis where outside players will come in and play at weekends...minor prizes are available to the winners...although in general prize money is kept relatively low as in general people are playing more to test their competence against like minded people rather than trying to earn a living playing bridge. Should play on any of the championship’s stated dates have to be cancelled for any reason, a new date will be decided by the Committee.

The committee agreed that next year's AGM would be on 14th March 2022. 5. Pricing from 6th December onwards Adoption of the Treasurer's Report was proposed by Nigel Barnes, and seconded by Phil Chan. Approved nem con. 6. Approval of Audited AccountsAnyway, I’m sure it will a personal decision for each member—and risk aversion is pretty variable—but I for one would just love to get going again TOGETHER, UP CLOSE (ish) and fairly personal!' <Ⓜ#16> The committee gave its approval for the Club's boards and scoring equipment to be used at the bridge tournament planned for 24th November at Claygate Tennis Club. 11. Date of Next Meeting I think you are wise to be cautious but it is good to think in the long term as Claygate was such a wonderful club in a wonderful location. It would be sad if its demise was a result of the dreaded Covid! <Ⓜ#5> The committee felt that there was already enough coverage by other clubs in the area. 9. Christmas Party MONDAY UPDATE: We now have just nine teams entering this contest. For a club that sometimes has 15 tables— that is, 60 members playing — this is disappointing, and probably not financially viable. The club must run events thatmembers want — not blindly continue tournaments which may have run their course — so this may be the last time we run this particular event.

At the end of the evening, all these will need to be put away. Members should have washed their cups themselves, but we need to ensure that no dirty cups have been left. Is a cashless-only system possible? Yes, there are cheap portable credit card readers available which buskers use. And some clubs have introduced monthly and annual table money subscriptions. <Ⓜ#7> If screens are available, I guess we could try using them. If not, we could expand the play area to space between the tables.' <Ⓜ#7>FREE BRIDGE LESSONS - FREE FULL COURSE on how to play ACOL - dip in and out of - NO STRINGS ATTACHED Bidding boxes: players could have their own but as they will be touching cards, and chairs etc, it doesn’t seem too useful. Gloves?' <Ⓜ#11> Bidding boxes – players could have their own but as they will be touching cards, and chairs etc, it doesn’t seem too useful. Gloves? <Ⓜ#11>
