I really would like to have the ACE working, but not at ANY cost. Also I'm led to believe that if you do work on the pipework, you have to purge the system, which apparently is best done by the LR dealer as the vehicle needs to be hooked up to a computer for 3-4hrs while a specific sequence of valve opening and closing is effected by said 'pooter.

I will be watching this thread with great interest as I've just bought a TD5, with the known fault of ACE malfunction. It had a red light (+bongs) on the dash permanently but since poking around and doing a bit of research I took out relay R14 from the engine bay fusebox and now I have no bongs and only a yellow warning light.I have been advised that serrated olives should be used but the compression fitting is designed to be used with a soft metal copper pipe..will it be effective on a hard ACE pipe?
