The first on our list is an LCD touch screen straight from the official foundation of Raspberry Pi. The monitor is 7 inches large, with a touch display created explicitly for the Raspberry Pi board. With it comes 800×480 multi-touch support resolution. In addition, there are only two connections needed to make from the display to the Raspberry Pi board, thus easing the installation process. The monitor provides a very amicable color and top-notch touch responsiveness. Nevertheless, the brightness suffers in places with ample light, for instance, outdoors. The monitor is suitable for Raspberry Pi tinkerers who want to try their hand designing and 3D printing. Unfortunately, it has the aesthetics to match, rough around the edges with an exposed finish that may not suit those who prefer a more stylish look for their screen.
A cooling fan is included to keep everything at the ideal operating temperature, which is fitted with the included rubber anti-vibration mounts to minimise fan noise. The Elecrow 5” Raspberry Pi Touchscreen Display isn’t the most impressive or expensive Raspberry Pi touch screen out there, but that is why we like it so much. The monitor does not compromise its excellent quality display despite its affordability. When talking about the specifications, the Elecrow 5” Raspberry Pi touchscreen monitor features a 5 inch TFT LCD resistive touchscreen panel (inclusive of the touch pen). The monitor can also display up to a maximum resolution of 800×480 with a smooth refresh rate of 60Hz. The case may be larger than typical Raspberry Pi 4 cases, and the gem pattern may not be to everyone’s taste but there is no denying that this unique looking case is one of the best passively cooled cases for the Raspberry Pi 4.Passively cooling the Raspberry Pi, the performance is similar to Pimoroni’s version. But adding the fans drops the temperatures significantly and the combined cooling this case can keep your Pi cool under load for a full day. The LCD display sits neatly into the case and is secured with 4 x M3 screws. There is a raised lip surrounding the screen to provide some protection. It’s easy enough to install RetroPie on your Raspberry Pi and run old-school Nintendo games at home. However, it helps the overall experience to get a case that looks the part. The Pibow Coupe doesn’t come with any cooling solution, but the CPU isn’t covered by anything so you can attach a heatsink, a fan HAT or Pimoroni’s own Fan Shim (our favorite of these choices), which just slides over the first 12 GPIO pins, but allows you to put a HAT on top of it. To add on, it has a 30mm fan that acts as a coolant to keep both the Pi board and the screen cool when performing heavy functionalities. As such, it sandwiches the Raspberry Pi between two acrylic layers held together by four large standoffs. The Raspberry Pi touchscreen display is the first official screen for the Pi. The screen size sits at 7 inches and can support ten fingers capacitive touch. It communicates over the DSI port so you won’t need to worry about it using up your HDMI port or the GPIO pins. I just added this display to my Raspi 3, and I would like it to be rotated 180deg as that is the correct orientation with the display case I have. Another quality 7-in touchscreen for Raspberry Pi, the Lebula Raspberry Pi Touchscreen Monitor, bears an uncanny resemblance in both design and specifications to the EVICIV 7 Inch Touchscreen Monitor. For all intents and purposes, they are virtually the same touch screen, simply manufactured by different companies. Not a bad thing considering how impressed we were with the EVICIV model.
