About this deal

Depending on your 3D printer, you can get away with a lower light-off delay, especially for those monochrome LCD screens since they have a much longer life of around 2,000 hours. It may be that the Photon Mono 4K is slightly faster over a consistent amount of time, but for all intents and purposes, it’s equal. The following processing reference parameters are suitable for the factory default energy state of the Resin 3D You might also want to consider the Anycubic Photon M3, the brand-new and larger resin option. It’s around the same price as the Mars 3, and has slightly worse XY resolution (40 microns vs 35 microns), but the significantly larger build volume may suit you if you’re looking to print a bunch of miniatures at the same time, or just generally print larger resin models. It’s difficult to narrow down a “best exposure time” since there are so many factors at play, such as the type of printer itself, to the color and brand of resin.

Both offer fantastic resolution for the price – they’re both the best-quality resin MSLA printers for the price, in our opinion. Lifting speed is simply the speed at which the build plate is lifted from the resin vat after a layer has been cured. A lift speed too high can damage prints, especially where there are weak supports or overhangs, while a slow lifting speed will simply increase your printing times. There are quite a few lifting and speed settings with resin 3D printing, but a good value is something that is fairly slow. People tend to go with a lifting speed of 1-3mm/s or 60-180mm/min.For beginners, using that print orientation usually brings about higher success, especially when done in a way to reduce the need of many supports. If you have long unsupported parts on a model, rotating the model correctly is useful. Print orientation is not a “set value” type setting, instead, it is the combination of different activities such as rotating, scaling, moving, and placing the model on the build plate in slicer software. Although there are some 3D printing users that like to go up to 10 bottom layers, 4 to 8 is the ideal count for most of the 3D printers including Photon. These are genuine lifesavers for novices printing for the first time. But, they leave a bit to be desired in terms of advanced features and overall interface. Anycubic Photon Workshop, the resin slicer used by Anycubic Photon 3D printers.

You can use both Anycubic and Elegoo’s respective resin or an equivalent third-party alternative with no discernible difference in print quality. Nor do Anycubic and Elegoo prevent the use of third-party materials like we’ve seen others do. However, Anycubic has also developed its Anycubic Photon Workshop software, offering hassle-free out-of-the-box printing thanks to fine-tuned settings. Now, it’s time to install the resin vat. Make sure that the screen is clean (I used a small blower that came with some camera lens and it worked great for removing dust particles) and then simply slide the vat into place. Tighten the two knobs and you’re good to go. Yes, there are seemingly many steps, but the real-life process will take very little and will feel very intuitive. The more difficult steps are later, when you actually finish printing a model. Printing with Resin and AccessoriesWith the ongoing developments in afforable desktop resin 3D-printers, Anycubic has launched another new product in 2023. Names the Anycubic Photon Mono 2, it seems like this is an upgrade from the original Photon Mono. But as they are releasing so many new and similar printers, it is difficult to see how the Anycubic Photon Mono 2 fits into its product offering. Some information can already be found online. What is new with the Photon Mono 2 compared to the previous versions? Well, the LCD display still uses monochrome technology, but in this case they use a 4K+ LCD screen. this is a minor upgrade from the Photon Mono 4K in a way that it has slightly more pixels. in technical details, the Photon Mono 4K has an LCD with 3840 * 2400 pixels while the new Anycubic Photon Mono 2 has an LCD screen with 4096 * 2560 pixels. Having a similar pixel size of 35 microns, it will give the Photon Mono 2 a slightly larger build plate of 143*89 cm compared to 132 * 80 cm of its predecessor.
