About this deal

One thing that I love about Ana's books is that she writes Asian characters the way they should be written. Flawed but yet so perfect in their own way. She perfectly describes the asian culture and asian families in this. Both the MCs in this book are asian and I loved how similar their culture and families were but yet so different in their own way. Isabella is everything he shouldn’t want, but with every look and every touch, he’s tempted to break all his rules . . . and claim her as his own. There was a little more humor and heart, especially in the beginning. But by the middle, the formula returned. By the end, I wasn’t invested in either of them.

The Muktikā Upanishad’s list of 108 Upanishads groups the first 13 as mukhya, 21 as Sāmānya Vedānta, 20 as Sannyāsa, 14 as Vaishnava, 12 as Shaiva, 8 as Shakta, and 20 as Yoga. The 108 Upanishads as recorded in the Muktikā are shown in the table below. The mukhya Upanishads... Isabella is everything he shouldn't want, but with every look and every touch, he's tempted to break all his rules . . . and claim her as his own. Kai and isabella are gonna get together, we love a gentleman in the streets and a devil in the sheets add a British accent and perfection You should've never let me take you, Isabella. Because now that I have, I won't be able to let you go. Huang could have focused exclusively on the steaminess between the two, and it would have been a great romance novel on its own. However, character and story are always at the heart of King of Pride . Isabella and Kai banter through intelligent dialogue. There are dramatic plots, although extreme, that unfold with the frenzy of media attention and antagonistic businessmen; they also ensure the story has much more than romance, including corporate dealings and intrigue. Huang juggles all of these different elements and never loses sight of a single one of them. It’s no easy feat, but she does it so well that you might forget you’re reading a romance novel and are instead in a stellar literary mash-up of Crazy Rich Asians (Young’s motherly disapproval, anyone?) and Succession (who will get the power?) .

Creative Play

The best thing about ‘King of Pride’, was the fact we get to read this story through both Isabella and Kai’s point of view. I loved reading their struggles, their reservations about each other and the way they where so different but worked. I loved Kai’s British seriousness, and Isabella’s fun and charming ways. It was simply addicting to read their story. It shouldn't matter. He's not her type - the man translates classics into Latin for fun, and his membership at the exclusive club where she bartends means he's strictly off limits. Even though she may make an effort to deny it, she is aware that beneath his chilly demeanour lies a guy who has the power to seduce her with his touch. They make a valiant effort not to give in to their embarrassing urges, but in the end, they are unsuccessful. In ‘King of Pride’ we read the story of Isabella and Kai. Isabella is a wannabe author, and works at the bar of an exclusive club to make her money. When she is not working, Isabella works on her book. But things aren’t going as well as she would have liked. The last thing she needs is to be attracted to Kai. Especially since he is everything she shouldn’t want. He is nothing like her. But there is an attraction between them, both can’t deny. Isabella is everything he shouldn't want, but with every look and every touch, he's tempted to break all his rules... and claim her as his own.

But she can't deny that, beneath his cool exterior, is a man who could make her melt with just a touch.King of Pride follows Kai Young and Isabella Valencia’s love story. This book is different from other books in the King of Sin and Twisted series because although Kai is a billionaire who will soon inherit an empire, he is not your typical morally-grey men. Instead, Kai is quiet and shy. i’d take crazy & OTT over this boring shit. i couldnt even enjoy Kais British accent cause the audiobook hasnt been released yet. 😭

Isabella is everything he shouldn’t want, but with every look and every touch, he’s tempted to break all his rules...and claim her as his own. King of Pride is also a forbidden romance because members and employees of Valhalla are not allowed to cross that line of professional friendliness. Obviously, these two do exactly that, and maybe it’s because I already have a fondness for this trope, but it’s worth every agonizing second. Reserved, controlled, and proper to a fault, Kai Young has neither the time nor inclination for chaos - and Isabella, with her purple hair and inappropriate jokes, is chaos personified. With a crucial CEO vote looming and a media empire at stake, the billionaire heir can't afford the distraction she brings. I kept waiting for the plot line but the only plot this book had was that Kai is an introverted, sophisticated billionaire who falls for a quirky, extroverted bartender. Their relationship could cause a scandal and jeopardise Kai who’s gunning for the CEO position in his company. The ending was perfect and beautiful and I'm glad that their families are accepting them as well. I'm so happy that Kai and Isa found each other and worked their differences and fell in love. Kai Young is officially a new standard for paper boyfriends. His character was THE invigorating aspect of the storyline. He wasn’t a compulsive man with sociopath tenderizes, he was a charming and cultured man with such a kind and soft spot for Isabella. Everything he did, said was a perfection in their relationship. No wrong move from Kai Young! HE CARRIED THE BOOK!! With a crucial CEO vote looming and a media empire at stake, the billionaire heir can't afford the distraction she brings. Bold, impulsive, and full of life, Isabella Valencia has never met a party she doesn’t like or a man she couldn’t charm...except for Kai Young.

And don’t get me started on my love for my girl Isabella!! She‘s everything I aspire to be! Confident, witty, smart, fun and so freaking charming as well!! She‘s an amazing female lead and I loved reading her POVs and learning more about her character! She honestly deserves the absolute world!! Also the fact that we share so many interests and hobbies made me love her so so sooooo much more!! I just adore when characters are so relatable! It makes the reading experience so much better! He's the epitome of aristocratic, and sophisticated person. An Asian britisher who wears glasses and loves books and even translates them into latin for relaxation and becomes a territorial caveman when he's jealous🤭 He's just so hot, charming and perfect. But apart from it he's very thoughtful and caring and have a soft spot only for Isa. He's very different from other MMCs in Ana's book as he's not morally grey and would rather do things in a more civilised way but not so civil when it comes to bedroom activities!! His British accent and the way he called Isa LOVE and MY LOVE is the only thing keeping me sane in this life. And he just accepts it! Double gah!! The break up just added two hours of needless angst to an already tame listen. Ana Huang never disappoints istg. This was literally my most anticipated read of the month and it was EVERYTHING!! She literally put her all into this book and I‘m not kidding when I say that Kai and Isa are so far my favourite couple by hers (besides Bridget and Rhy ofc)! They‘re just too good to be true, literally perfection if you ask me!! Another bonus which made me love the book even more were the little cameos of certain Twisted characters… it just made me so happy to see them again even if it was only for a short time! I just love and miss them so much!! And we obviously love seeing Dante and Vivian again! These two were so adorable and I love them so so much! I just love interconnected stand-alones!!!I never really lived before you … And I don’t want to imagine living after you.” I dropped my forehead to hers, my chest aching with need and want and a thousand other emotions only she could make me feel. “Stay with me, love. Please.” Kai is reserved, a little stoic, and his favorite thing to do is translate books into Latin. He’s one of the billionaire members of Valhalla Club, where Isabella works as a bartender. She’s loud and fun and everything Kai isn’t. Since the moment they've met, there’s been a simmering attraction between them, but they’ve never done anything about it since Isabella can’t risk losing her job. Bold, impulsive, and full of life, Isabella Valencia has never met a party she doesn’t like or a man she couldn’t charm . . . except for Kai Young. Honestly Isabella kind of gave me Jules Ambrose vibes with her sassy , carefree and nonchalant attitude. I loved how ana not only showed her joyful side but she also portrayed her insecurities and fears so well. Isabella was portrayed as such a strong character with her own flaws. I legit loved her witty and joyful personality alot.
