In our opinion, epoxy garage flooring is the best garage floor coating. It delivers on the following: Old paint finishes should be removed if flaking at all and the surface should be sanded to create a texture (also known as a mechanical key) prior to applying Resincoat Double Garage Floor Paint Bundle. When preparing for a floor coat, doing so mechanically (shot-blasting or grinding) is always advisable for best results, but if that is not possible then sanding the area or our Etch and Clean is a good alternative. After the surface has been completely abraded, thoroughly sweep and vacuum the area of any remaining dust or contaminants. For more information on preparation, please see technical data sheet. Polar’s paint might not be the cheapest to buy, but its ability to cover an estimated 60 square metres from five litres of paint is impressive, making your money stretch that little bit further. Important: The floor must dry out completely after all cleaning work! An airtight plastic foil indicates condensation water if necessary. Freshly laid concrete floor needs at least 5 weeks to dry. Coating can then begin. Garage floor mats & sheet PVC vinyl flooring – PVC flooring can come in rolls or in interconnecting tiles, they are often textured and resistant to petrol, oil, and cleaning chemicals. Other tiles are available that snap together making them relatively easy to install and providing some protection. What’s the difference between garage floor paint and garage epoxy floor coatings?
Especially in hot summer, priming the garage floor can be difficult: Warm air naturally contains more moisture than cold air. The garage floor is about 15° C cooler, which in turn can cause condensation. The problem with this is that when the primer dries, the condensation water sometimes causes unsightly stains. To ensure that everything runs smoothly, a temperature of 16 to 23° C is recommended. Caution: The floor should have a temperature of at least 10° C so that the work can be carried out cleanly. High quality 12” rollers – one roller for each coat. A larger roller can be used if you are covering a large garage. With a garage epoxy floor, you will want to add at least two coats. Allow at least 12 hours to dry between coats and no more than 48 hours. Although the floor will be touch dry after a few hours, it takes a few days to cure properly.
APPLICATION GUIDE
There are a wide range of garage floor coatings, coverings and products designed to protect your garage floor available on the market. Each has its positives and negatives that we will consider in relation to a garage floor epoxy. To ensure that the coating can withstand the load of a car, wait a week. After 7 days at the earliest you can drive a car into the garage. It is better to wait 12 days. This period of time requires some patience. However, it is worth the wait. If you act too early at this point and put too much strain on the floor, you risk unsightly marks and uneven dents in the resin layer. Polar says its paint is good for high-traffic areas, although it recommends two coats for the best results. It’s resistant to many chemicals, plus dust and moisture, and will withstand regular washing with water. It’s slip-resistant, too.

This means that once parts have been mixed, the paint will start to chemically cure after this time. Ensure you remove the paint from the tin in this window. This will extend its life and avoid issues with scratches, punctures and chipping.If you have had professional epoxy flooring done, you do not have to be concerned about it for at least 10 years or more. It is vital to provide as much ventilation as possible to the area to help the epoxy to dry. Applying Epoxy Floor Coating in cold, damp, non-ventilated environments can delay drying for long periods of time. Also observe application temperatures on the side of the container and do not use outside of these conditions. To ensure maximum adhesion to the surface your floor should be suitably abraded and slightly rough. This product should NOT be split. Taking smaller quantities from each tin, even if measured correctly, may cause issues with activating.
