About this deal

The last two digits of the number used to indicate the level of cushioning: a “60” being a stability shoe while a “80” a neutral shoe. This is the actual list: Sally : Two great soft shoes, similar but different. As Jeff waxes so poetically, the Invincible is a pretty special and uniquely fun shoe, soft and cushioned like the More but somehow more bouncy and energized. It’s like the More was the pretty gal at the party that everyone was eyeing, until that supermodel walked in the room. The Invincible is simply that good, unfortunately for the still fine More 3. P., Kosonen, J., Nurminen, J., & Avela, J. (2018). Running in highly cushioned shoes increases leg stiffness and amplifies impact loading. Scientific Reports , 8 (1), 1-7. The upper is your basic mesh that allows air to reach the foot. My size 10.5 fit true to size and held my foot securely. This surprised me since I have a narrow low volume foot and I felt secure without any bagginess or extra material. The padded tongue and collar keep the More 3 in the comfort zone. In our perspective, although it slightly enhances the shoe's performance in technical terrain, the trade-off is being positioned too high off the ground in any other scenario.

Sally: I agree that New Balance really nailed it with this upper. Attractive, breathable, not overly complicated, soft and somewhat stretchy, functional and well padded tongue, flat land stretchy aces that hold, and well cushioned but not overly so heel collar - all elements of this upper are well thought out and well executed. No concerns here!

I was sent a half size up from my normal US8.5 and while the fit is fine I would stay true to size in a next pair.

The molded front of the tongue and cord loops for two of the eyelets are nice luxe highlights. I wondered how the tongue would stay put in such a soft upper with no gusset tongue in the mix. Sam is the Editor and Founder of Road Trail Run. He is 63 with a 2018 3:40 Boston qualifier. Sam has been running for over 48 years and has a 2:28 marathon PR. These days he runs halves in the just sub 1:40 range training 30-40 miles per week mostly at moderate paces on the roads and trails of New Hampshire and Utah. He is 5’9” tall and weighs about 164 lbs. DPT/Footwear Science: A- (Great set up. A New Balance HOKA with better forefoot flexibility. Those who want more rigidity in the forefoot may do better in the Bondi, but those that want some toe motion will do far better here) The midfoot and forefoot are super spacious, attributes that Wide Foot Jarrett will appreciate, especially if this comes in a 2E. New Balance calls the upper construction a “no-fuss fit.” I agree. Engineers dropped the 3D ultra heel featured in the More 2 and returned to a traditional look with extra padding. Tongue padding is equally generous. The mesh upper, complemented by the “N” logo on the medial and lateral sides of the midfoot for a touch of structure, round out an irritation-free design. The exposed rubber on the outsole shows some minor wear, but the carbon stuff is holding strong. This pleasant feeling and fitting new upper is in sharp contrast to the rough and kind of crude feel of More v2’s thin engineered mesh upper, gusset tongue to hold it to the foot and its mostly un padded molded heel and collars

This shoe, more suitable for non-technical terrains, would benefit from smaller lugs similar to those found in the Hierro v7. The More Trail v3 is big—inside and out

Jeff B. is the token slow runner of the RTR lineup as such his viewpoints on shoe and gear can differ from those who routinely finish marathons in three hours or less. Jeff runs 40 miles per week, both roads and desert trails in Phoenix, Arizona. He has a PR's of 4:07 marathon and 5K at 23:39. In December 2019 he raced his first 50 mile trail ultra. A mighty fine premium upper here with the crude and rough feeling v2's and minimal heel counter replaced by a very soft engineered mesh and a stout and comfortable heel counter and collars.

AUSTIN: Since the More 3 has a wider platform, my narrow foot felt a touch loose at times. However, this never led to any hot spots or blisters. Other than that, I’ve got no gripes. That's amazing for an EVA-based shoe. Indeed, the first number is absolutely mind-blowing and pretty close to the performance of the carbon-plated Saucony Endorphin Edge! Won’t have you tumbling downhill They felt soft, but not overly soft. I didn’t feel like I was sinking into them, there was actually some firmness in there. Upon getting them, I put them through the all-day test, and they were amazing. 17,000+ steps in that busy day, and my legs and feet felt fresh. Designed primarily for road running, the Fresh Foam More v3 is a reliable training companion for runners of all levels. Whether you're a seasoned athlete or a beginner, these shoes provide the support and cushioning you need to perform at your best. Investing in the right running gear, including these New Balance shoes, sets the foundation for a successful and fulfilling running journey. One of the major criticisms regarding New Balance's Fresh Foam X is its tendency to underperform in cold temperatures due to its EVA-based foam composition—as demonstrated in our in-depth guide. However, this time, that is not the case. While this is not strictly the case anymore, the concept stays: you can expect the cost (and features) of the shoe to go up when moving from a “8” model to a “10” or a “12”. Another thing NB got right with the More v3 is the platform width. This is a wide shoe, at 119.2mm in the forefoot and 102.1mm in the heel (average shoes are 112.6mm/89.2mm) it’s super stable which is needed since the Fresh Foam historically in my opinion has been a touch too soft. Adidas Adios 6 review - A complete retake on the workout trainer, featuring lightstrike pro in the forefoot Stability: A (Extremely stable. Wide last throughout shoe, good forefoot flexibility, solid bevel, sidewalls make for a high level of natural stability) Shop Men’s Fresh Foam More v3 Shop Women’s Fresh Foam More v3 How Does the New Balance Fresh Foam More v3 Perform on the Run?
