About this deal

Although the topic is death, there is no gore, and the "on screen" violence is action-style, and mostly fair fighting (if fighting a magically enhanced assassin can be called fair). If you like Sci-Fi books and are possibly a little bit of a techy, I guarantee you will enjoy reading this one. It was hard to put down!

It was a heavy blow to the T’au Empire. They were so concerned with the fallout of their spiritual leader’s death that he was swiftly and secretly replaced by holographic AI facsimiles, encoded with Aun’Va’s thought patterns to hide the truth from T’au society. 2. Execution Force Regnum Tribunal And on the topic of sciencey words, I like that this mixes magic and science and that even then we aren't clogged up and made to feel like we know nothing. Scott Baron doesn't lose us with big words and long-winded explanations about the science and magic of it all, instead he keeps it simple and therefore let's me care enough to try and understand the magic system and science of it all. I like that, like that in a book that could've gone all the way with the fake science, it decided to keep it simple and understandable. A sister Ghalian. Of course you do.” “I will retrieve them and be aboard in five minutes.” Hozark nodded. “Very well. Once we are safely aboard our mothership, I will introduce you to Bud and his new copilot. And then we begin our deadly work in earnest.”If you enjoy coup d'é·tat stories and power struggles and sword and sorcery action in a slightly space-y setting, this book definitely is for you. Or so he thought until someone quite unexpected reared their head. An appearance that gave him pause. Someone he had thought long dead. His former lover . A revelation like that could throw even a master assassin for a loop. That she too was an assassin only complicated things more. It's a very interesting formula, to match sci-fi and fantasy in a story and even though I feel that there's a lot to evolve, there's also a lot to explore, my rating here represents the potencial for the story to continue and get better because it has that potencial!! Imagine if you will, tuning into a science fiction series halfway through episode 4 in season 2, where season 1 is when all of the relationships have been developed, high jinks have been had, histories are given, galaxy described etc etc, and you are trying to work out who, what, where, and why.

It involves seeking a vespus blade (the most powerful sword of the Ghalians that stores and channels magical power), and dealing with someone the assassins thought was dead. In Book 1, we were introduced to Master Hozark and the Wampeh Ghalian, the Guild of Assassins that are somewhat unique, clever and creative creature for use as an Assassin in a Space Opera setting. The book did start a great way; the prologues are always more an introduction to the atmosphere of the book and the politics it has; maybe even the world-building. If you like sci-fi because of this, I feel like this book might be for you, considering due to the somewhat slower-moved plot, the worldbuilding and politics were more in the spotlight. This is well-weaved together with the side characters, I always love to see characters that add to the world-building, which causes there to be fewer infodumps. it is still a lot to remember because they travel to many planets, but you don’t need to remember it all, and what you do need to remember, the writer repeats, making sure the reader doesn’t miss anything. Hozark and Demelza are most unusual Ghalian since they are working together as a team and have taken others on as team members too. Ghalian always work alone but circumstances are such that even other members of the Five accept the unusual arrangement.Sure, being one of the deadliest assassins in the galaxy had its perks, but even the mightiest warrior could have a bad day. In this case, it was looking to be enough of them to fill an entire calendar.

The Interstellar Slayer by Scott Baron is a short first book in a 5 book series called Space Assassins, that follows, Hozark, a man who is one of the finest assassins the galaxy has known. There is so much mystery, intrigue, captivating story lines as pieces on the board are moved around in this incredibly complex game on both sides. We see this all from Hozark’s point of view, as he looks on at what is occurring between not only the Wampeh Ghalian’s, but all the other different people in the Sector, and the Council of Twenty, and all of their interests. Lately I am really in the mood for a good SciFi story. Coming from reading a lot of Fantasy I was able to find quiet a few fun Space Operas, but nothing that really screamed Science Fiction Fantasy that I loved. For parents and younger listeners, this audiobook contains a fair amount of vulgar language and some mature subject matter. There are also a few scenes that may be considered to be violent or graphic in nature. The author has never stated that he has intended this series for younger listeners, yet I think many could enjoy it. I would only recommend this series to more mature listeners because of this.Overall, I enjoyed this book especially the close relationship between Hozark, the centuries-old assassin, and Bud, the ex- space pirate, who had proven very handy during some of Hozark's previous missions, and Bud's newly introduced assistant-pilot who has yet to prove himself but was very confident of his skills.

I have not listened to anything by Eric Bryan Moore previously, but he did a great job with the Narration. He was clear and concise, so it was easy to understand and listen to him. He has a great range of voices, both Male and Female, and the main characters voice, Hozark, is exceptionally well done for this particular character. You can pretty well distinguish who is talking most of the time, but there are times it can be a bit hard to tell which character is speaking.

This book is obviously written by a reader of science-fiction and fantasy who understands world-building. The characterizations are sketches at first, allowing readers to fill some blanks, but the dialogue and story reveal who the people truly are. Fight scenes are realistic as far as I can tell (not an expert), but the space travel is not hard science; it's fantasy--which works out just fine for its purpose. The first book in the new series, and the one we will be reviewing here, is “The Interstellar Slayer” which is more of a novelette introducing the series along with all new characters. This audiobook is about three and a half hours long, but it is a good primer to the new series. The first book in the series is designed to whet your appetite for what is to come in future audiobooks. I would highly recommend you listen to the “Dragon Mage” series prior to this one. Yet, it is good to know that this is a standalone series and because of this, it is not a requirement to know any of the previous series. I do like that having the extra knowledge from the other series helped me to jump right in and feel comfortable with the story. I do not recall the length of time between this series and “The Dragon Mage” series but I think of it as a prequel similar to the Star Wars series. The focus of this series is on the well respected and rightfully feared space assassins group called the Wampa Ghalian. These assassins are the best of the best, but powerful magic and hidden agendas will impact this mysterious assassin group and potentially change the future of these highly trained killers. I found it interesting to know this group is monetary focused, but they also have a moral code that supersedes any amount of financial offering. The Interstellar Slayer: Space Assassins 1 by Scott Baron is a novel I considered to be a blend of fantasy and science fiction genres which would be something akin to science fantasy.
