About this deal

Star Wars: Shatterpoint, developed by Atomic Mass Games, is a brand new skirmish scale wargame that is thematically set firmly in the Clone Wars. We know for sure there will be future releases from the entire Star Wars timeline but it’s clear from getting a few games in that Shatterpoint does not play like the Original Trilogy. special rule instructs a player to Refresh more Force ( v) than they have Spent in their Force Pool, the player When applied to physical items, shatterpoints worked much in the same manner. An individual would view an item through the Force, noting where it came together and also noting weak points in its composition. By allowing the Force to surge through them into the weak point, individuals could effectively "shatter" the object, causing it to break into multiple fragments. Because the Force granted supernatural ability to those who were adept in its use, materials thought to be near-indestructible were easily destroyed. Such was the case with Jedi Knight Jaina Solo, who effortlessly shattered a disc of pure Mandalorian iron while practicing the technique under her uncle, Luke Skywalker. [2] History [ ] Mace Windu is a living legend: Jedi Master, senior member of the Jedi Council, skilled diplomat, devastating fighter. Some say he is the deadliest man alive. But he is a man of peace—and for the first time in a thousand years, the galaxy is at war. Like many other skirmish games, Shatterpoint focuses on its heroes and villains (Image credit: Will Salmon)

The game isn’t the first Star Wars miniature game at all – Atomic Mass Games already publishes the army scale wargame Star Wars: Legion and the two space battle games Star Wars: X-Wing and Star Wars: Armada – but the relatively large scale of the miniatures in Shatterpoint and the game’s focus on creating cinematic moments for your characters makes it perfect for imagining you’re controlling the most famous characters of your favorite setting.

Popular Teams

Similar to the Mandalorian Super Commandos the Nite owls are highly mobile and get easy access to free focus actions. Where these two groups differ is while the Mandalorian Super Commandos are more combative the Nite Owls are more protective of each other making them rather difficult to kill.

There have been multiple Star Wars tabletop games over the years (for which you can see our coverage of by following the links), including card games, dice games, board games, and wargames. Fantasy Flight Games brought the world X-Wing, the incredible starship miniatures battle game, along with Star Wars Armada, which took the scale up to whole fleet battles, then Star Wars Legion, a squad combat game, and now Atomic Mass Games, who have taken the miniatures arm of Fantasy Flight Games on, have released Star Wars Shatterpoint, with a scale to match their Marvel tabletop wargame, Mavel Crisis Protocol. The defending character must be within Range ( g) 1 of one or more terrain parts at the same or higher Criticisms? The rules could be clearer in parts – the distinction between ‘Characters’ and ‘Units’ is a little bit head achey, the rules for pushing models near the edges of elevated terrain are written in awful legalese, and I’m still not sure I’m playing ‘priority objectives’ right. I haven’t mentioned the rules for vertical terrain – they’re elegant in play, work perfectly for the theme, but in the rulebook they’re a bit of a pain to read. card. The third Option adds three more damage ( q) to the Damage Pool, increasing it to six. At the branch in In this section, we’ll try to explain why the game is worth keeping an eye on from two perspectives: 1. I’m a Star Wars fan – why is Shatterpoint a game for me?Combat also includes expertise symbols. While not quite a sucess, in some situations they are even more valuable as they open up additional options. As an example, Maul’s Juyo expertise includes healing and movement on defense. The most annoying part of the whole experience, while also being nice for those of us with poor free-hand skills, was painting Bo’s helmet details. The owl eyes and head markings are sculpted into the helmet. I had to do a couple of passes with the blue and the white to get the markings and the helmet as clean as I could. Not knowing what type of brown I wanted for the leather, I left it for last. I ended up using Skrag Brown and highlighting with Flayed One Flesh. Battle: In Shatterpoint, players use their characters' special abilities and diverse combat skills to control the flow of battle as they race against each other to complete dynamically evolving mission objectives. Shove: This lets you Push the target away from you for Range 1 distance (the short side of measuring tools) and then move the same distance in the target’s direction. This is quite a big deal, as some combat trees have several of these icons listed, so you could end up significantly changing the positioning of both yourself and the target. For example, this could help you push the target out of Engagement Range of one of your more important or more vulnerable units while positioning your own character between that unit and the target. A video trailer, embedded above, shows off some very close-up shots of the new sculpts. Characters include Ahsoka Tano, Bo-Katan Kryze, and Lord Maul (with his fancy metal legs). A news briefing said that players will be able to “mix and match their favorite characters to form custom squads they want to play.”
