About this deal

The fielding team must field a minimum of six players (one on each base plus bowler and catcher). The total number of players on a team is limited to nine.

Once you have worked through these lessons with your KS2 class you might find these resources useful: A batter can run around the pitch as many times as they like once they have hit the ball. This means that players who are good at batting the ball far, may be able to score more than one rounder in their turn! If you are between posts, you can keep on moving until you reach the following post. But, you cannot keep on moving to the next post when the bowler has the ball in his square. When the game begins, one team takes the batting innings while the other team fields and bowls. The bowler bowls the ball to the batter, who hits the ball anywhere on the rounders pitch. You only need 6 people to make up a team, and the game and setting is ideally suited to ‘pay and play’ for individuals who can be placed into teams on the day.The following video will encourage children to engage with the general topic of sport. It's informative and easy to understand as it lists the key benefits of physical activity, for healthy and happier living.

It is very tempting to throw the bat down once you have hit the ball but doing so will discount any rounders you get during that play. According to official Rounders bat regulations it should measure no longer than 46 centimetres in length (18 inches). A Rounder bat must not be more than 17 centimetres (6 inches round) in diameter. The governance of Rounders England health and safety rules takes place from Sheffield. They are the non-profit sport’s governing body (NGB) in the United Kingdom. To play Walking Rounders, some rules need to be adapted to ensure that the game is played appropriately. If you’re playing a game competitively, these rules become important. a b c "The Rules of GAA Rounders" (PDF). Archived (PDF) from the original on 24 June 2021 .
