About this deal

Dimmable: Yes suitable for dimming LED lights. For GU10 LEDs we recommend the Aurora Ice 5W GU10 LEDand for integrated LED downlights go for the Aurora MPRO. Scottish Islands:HS1-9, IV40-51, IV55-56, KA27-28, KW15-17, PA20, PA30, PA32-34, PA41-49, PA60-78, PH42-44, ZE1-3 https://support.lightwaverf.com/hc/en-us/articles/360003973932-How-to-set-up-a-TWO-WAY-SWITCHING-Automation Generation 1 devices appear in the app, but their state can’t be read. Instead, it displays the last setting you used through the app – although this could be wrong. For example, the app showed that my Lounge light was set to 49% when it had been manually turned off using its physical buttons. At the first switch, move all wires fitted to L1 to the L terminal on the Lightwave switch. Move all wires fitted to L2 to the X terminal on the Lightwave switch. Move all wires fitted to C to the L terminal on the Lightwave switch.

If you’re not comfortable doing this yourself then please consult a qualified electrician. Before you start Two-way wiring can look very complicated at first, however, as long as your lighting is working well on your manual switches, it should be simple to swap to Lightwave’s Smart series. Control the look and feel of key areas around your home with Lightwave’s smart home control system - Entertaining? Quiet evening in? Create the perfect mood, room-by-room. Wireless smart switches that can be positioned anywhere. Ideal for installations where a cable can't be runThe Lightwave app lets you control the lights and even keep an eye on power consumption. Benny Har-Even Google Home support is available, too, and there’s now IFTTT support. Lightwave Generation 2 – Performance Smart Series (formally Lightwave Gen2) products now have 2 way communication this means that the App always knows if a device has been activated or deactivated. Gen1 only had 1 way communication, which meant that if someone was to manually turn off the lights the App wouldn't know. As the App always knows what's happening it also monitors energy usage without needing any other accessories. The unwired channels on the dimmer will just go from RED to BLUE but not do anything until automated. The spare channels on all of our dimmers can then be programmed to be wireless 2way switches by using the two way switching automation.

Lightwave’s beauty is that it doesn’t expect you to change the way you normally do things. So, walk into a room and you can tap a light switch to have it come on, or hold down the buttons to increase or dim the lights. It’s great to have this level of control, since it’s often easier to turn a light on manually than to use an app.

Member Benefits

Intuitive Automations: Craft custom 'Automations' to suit your lifestyle. Set your lights to mimic your presence, creating a lived-in look even when you're away. Explore timers, scenes, and the power to create a master switch for your entire home. The maximum load per gang must not exceed 200W for a circuit with dimmable LED lamps or 100W for a circuit with a driver.

In some cases you may need to physically wire the switches together if it is a 1gang dimmer in a 3 way set up with 2 other 1 gang dimmers and no neutral wire is available to power the 2nd and 3rd switch (no load). That was the other major problem with Lightwave's switches. When connected and turned on for the first time, the switch automatically performs a calibration process to find the maximum and minimum brightness level for the bulbs connected. At the second switch move all wires fitted to L1 to the L terminal on the Lightwave switch. Move all wires fitted to L2 to the X terminal on the Lightwave switch. Move all wires fitted to C to the X terminal on the Lightwave switch. What if I have more than two switches in the circuit? For both switches, move all wires fitted to the L1 to the L terminal on the Lightwave switch. Move all wires fitted to the L2 to the X terminal on the Lightwave switch. Wires in the C terminal are not required and can be safely terminated or removed altogether. Three-wire system Better hardware and a cleaner app make the Generation 2 kit interesting, particularly if you want to use Apple Home. I like the wider LED bulb support, too. With 2 way communication, the App always knows if a device has been manually activated or deactivated. A Smart Series switch can be programmed to dim either as a master or as a slave. This provides 2 way switching or dimming. Instead of needing a slave dimmer Smart Series can do 2 way or 3 way dimming which means you can dim the same lighting circuit from 2 or more switches (or locations from the room). Despite a seemingly long list of problems and my difficulty in getting the system set up, I do really like having these switches installed. I have spent far less than I would have if I'd replaced every bulb with a Philips Hue smart bulb and I won't feel bad replacing bulbs down the line since they didn't each cost a lot. Those in the UK looking for a HomeKit-compatible, hardwired smart switch solution should get the Lightwave Smart Series Light Switches. Though they are quite an investment both in terms of money and time, the end result is still worth it. Currently, there are no accessories for Generation 2 switches. Generation 1 had scene controllers to set pre-defined lighting moods, and dedicated remote controls.
