Avengers Tower aims to be the ultimate Avengers set, containing as many characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe as possible. In sheer quantity, the set certainly succeeds, but I find some of the character choices underwhelming. After all, almost all of the major heroes have appeared many times before and few are improved here. More dual-moulded pieces or printed arms would not have gone amiss.
One minifigure features a trans-light blue head beneath the helmet, while the other includes Tony's double-sided head. As always, the heads-up display looks great, but I think this would have been a good place to introduce a new head for Tony Stark, given the piece has now been featured in 28 sets! The standard trans-light blue repulsor accessories are also included. Luis' notoriously ugly Ford Ecoline van, which was introduced during Ant-Man, is exclusively available here and appears suitably hideous! The boxy shape seems authentic and I love the dubious reddish brown, dark brown and medium nougat colour scheme. The model measures 14cm in length, thereby resembling various City vehicles in scale and proportions. I like this hair component and the metallic accents on Sam's torso are appealing, while his goggles correspond with the onscreen character. However, this is an occasion where dual-moulded arms would have been perfect, as Falcon is usually seen with short sleeves. While I think it’s weird in general, I don’t think it’s that weird in the sense that he is pretty responsible for this version of marvel, and frankly most of the marvel that is popular right now.It’s the letdown to much of that (sorry…it just isn’t that great a minifigure line-up) and the cut corners and the inflated price that puts me in the position of steeling myself to pass on the set and maybe getting it if it goes 30-40% off and I don’t miss out but if I do not then not really worrying about it. Avengers: Endgame Final Battle includes an extraordinary selection of minifigures and they have dominated discussion surrounding this set, understandably. The brand new Thanos bigfig represents an enormous improvement over previous designs and the heroes are superb too, especially given their remarkable quantity. Scarlet Witch remains somewhat disappointing though, differing from the original character. The Avengers Quinjet attracted some criticism because Hawkeye was missing from its minifigure selection. However, the character is available here and this is definitely my favourite iteration of Hawkeye produced to date. This medium nougat hair element is great and I love the intricate straps across the torso, finally improving on the minifigure from 2012. The decision to re-use a generic double-sided head is disappointing though. Node-RED 3.x requires at least Node 14.x, but that reaches end-of-life in a couple months. These days you should really be using Node 16 at least or even 18.

Hulk bigfigs were consistently available during the early years of LEGO Marvel, but recently they have become scarcer. This figure follows the example of Thanos from 76192 Avengers Endgame Final Battle, featuring a separate rotating head, as well as the usual shoulder and wrist articulation. A large hair element is thus included too, which looks fantastic, although its clutch power could be better. While less personally threatening than Ultron, Alexander Pierce is equally sinister and his evil allegiance is made clear by a sneering smile. The piece was actually designed for René Belloq in 77015 Temple of the Golden Idol, but also appears perfect for Secretary Pierce. Similarly, the striped suit debuted in 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank - Collectors' Edition and works well on this occasion too. Loki commands an army of Chitauri in The Avengers and four of these alien soldiers are found here, which is a reasonable number to display around the tower. The same minifigure has now appeared in various sets and this is my favourite version of the Chitauri, thanks in particular to the metallic gold highlights on their heads and torsos.Defensive measures are destroyed before they can be deployed during Avengers: Endgame, although the New Avengers Facility likely does include such measures. This missile launcher seems accordingly appropriate and is integrated nicely, featuring a turntable underneath. The shooting function is excellent as well, although I would have preferred some additional ruins.
