About this deal

There’s a button on the control panel which you can press after popping the mower down in whichever area needs touching up. It’ll then use a spiral pattern to trim any longer bits of grass and ensure a uniform finish over the whole lawn. Cutting Pattern Like most robot mowers the L10 uses three small blades to cut the grass and they did a decent job. But – there’s always a but isn't there – the mower uses a random pattern which we found confusing. And, if we didn’t leave running long enough it missed small patches of grass. The first time we left it running for 30 mins to get the lawn in a decent state. For consecutive cuts we dropped the cutting height to 20 mm and ran for about 15-20 mins. Next, let’s move on to the all important setup of this model. With all robot lawn mowers there’s this slight concern you get when the box arrives, as you know it’s not going to be a walk in the park! Whether it’s mapping out a perimeter or navigating the technology, it’s always going to be more time consuming than normal. You can dream about a lawn and execute it soon, but the problem arises when it asks for maintenance because you got no time. Thanks to the latest development, there is a wide range of robotic mowers that can cut the lawn grasses without many inputs. Let’s face it, robot lawn mowers are costly, and the last thing you want is for it to get stolen! But if you’re out at work or relaxing inside during the day, you want to be sure a passer-by isn’t going to help themselves to your new tool.

The 3000 that I tested is capable of dealing with medium to large gardens, whilst the 5000 can cut over an acre! Those at the higher price end are usually quieter with more high-tech features, although they aren't all necessary for a clean-cut lawn. Where to buy robotic lawn mowers Robot lawn mowers have been in the public sphere for over five decades, yet they’re still thought of as futuristic!

If there are any obstacles it is recommended that you go around at 90 degree angles. It took me around 20 minutes from start to finish, but this didn’t include mowing around the edges before laying, reading the instructions (beforehand) and connecting up the base station. So in reality, you need to allocate yourself at least an hour to get everything in place. Make sure you follow the manufacturer’s recommendations, because once you're past the initial set up there’s not much to do apart from use the mower. As I discussed earlier, some of the more expensive robotic lawn mowers use GPS and RTK to navigate. However, the LawnMaster VBRM16 benefits from a camera and two sensors located at the front of the machine which enables it to ‘see’ the lawn and move around objects or stop at the edge. Designed for small lawns of up to 150m² in size , the Flymo EasiLife 150 GO Robotic Lawn Mower is one of the most popular models out there. Why? To find out, I sectioned off a 150m² area of my lawn and put this machine to the test. The LawnMaster VBRM16 cuts in a random pattern. When you turn it on, it’ll start mowing in a forwards direction and will then move around the lawn. When it reaches a boundary or an obstacle, the LawnMaster VBRM16 will turn to cut in another direction.

It took me about half an hour to set the Landroid up , although it may take you longer depending on how complex your boundary is. The fact that it only uses a boundary wire, rather than an additional guide wire too, keeps things simple. The 3 pivoting blades can be adjusted to cut grass any height from 20mm to 60mm. High specification deep tread wheels and powerful drive system grips slopes of up to 35% (19º). There are two mowing functions to choose from, either a random or spiral cutting pattern. The base of the lawn mower needs to be connected to mains electricity – I used an extension lead for this and it worked well. However, rather than an in-built battery, the Landroid runs on a WORX PowerShare battery , which you simply slot into the unit. This makes the battery easily interchangeable. I ended up swapping the provided 2aH battery with a 5aH, enabling the machine to run for longer in between charges. Additional batteries can extend running time (sold separately). Battery duration depends on lawn conditions. But simplicity isn’t the only thing that the LawnMaster L10 has going for it. It has some exciting features that make using a robot lawn mower for the first time a very pleasant experience. As you can see from my video review of this mower, it does a pretty impressive job. But let’s take a look in greater detail in this LawnMaster L10 review. Main FeaturesUnfortunately, all this innovation does come at a cost, since this is one of the priciest robot lawn mowers you’re likely to find on the market. Still, if you have a large lawn that you want neatly trimmed but you don’t want the hassle of laying wires, it’s certainly an effective option. The LawnMaster L10 is an incredibly versatile little robot machine and offers several features that ensure mowing is effective and reliable. I have to say, the LUBA wasn’t bad at all. There aren’t that many parts to the charging station, and the mower comes pre-built (thankfully!). What I would say though, is that the instructions could be worded a bit clearer and there should be a greater emphasis on the charging station being close enough to your house so sync it up with the WiFi. Otherwise though, it was all pretty straightforward and we were up and running in about 40 minutes. SAFETY: Using the camera and ultrasonic sensors the mower detects and avoids obstacles such as garden furniture. A child safety key prevents unauthorised use, and sensors stop the blade when the mower is lifted. What do I mean by this? Well, unlike most robotic mowers, this one isn’t designed to be left outside all the time. It’s a drop and go machine which can be charged indoors and then you simply need to pop it on the ground and let it do its thing. There are many advantages to this which I’ll dive into in my LawnMaster VBRM16 review.

What’s more, the LawnMaster L10 also comes with a random cutting pattern and is suitable for lawns up to 400 square metres. Take a look at my video where you will see the half of the lawn that is mulched is so much greener and healthier than the half that is cut and collected with a traditional mower. There’s a number of benefits of a robot lawn mower. The first and most obvious reason why so many people are investing in robot lawn mowers is because they are more convenient. They don’t cut into your free time, operating at night or while you are at work. Once they’ve been set up, you can usually just leave them to do their job! Safety components should also be considered. Those with pets or young children are right to be concerned about the safety of robot lawn mowers, as those blades are seriously sharp! Not all the lawns are flat. If you have slopes in the yard or garden, then don’t think that the mower will not be able to cut the grasses. Its powerful motor and high-quality wheels easily push the mower over paths that are inclined up to 25 per cent. Moreover, it should also raise an alarm once the mower leaves the ground. It might be a thief who is trying to take control of your
