About this deal

There are many reasons to cover existing timber fascia with UPVC cover boards. UPVC is a long-lasting, highly durable material, resistant to fire, chemical erosion, moisture damage, and exposure to UV rays. Installing UPVC capping boards can also improve levels of acoustic insulation and they require no painting or maintenance across their long lifespan. Window Board Cill Capping Covers In this article, we delve into the importance of fascia wrap solutions and how they can safeguard your fascia boards, ensuring their longevity and maintaining the beauty and strength of your home for years to come. What is a Fascia on a House?

To transform your existing timber boards and breathe a new lease of life into your property, take a look at our cover boards here at Celplas. These can be a great option for traditional and modern properties alike, and our cover boards allow you to finish your property with style.Soffit boards and bearers should be similarly inspected and replaced or supplemented. New timbers should provide support which is at least the equal of that required for new-build work.

Fascia Wrap also know as “Fascia Capping” is basically a protective layer of material that shields your fascia board from water damage. Fascia Capping or Wrap is commonly made from aluminum or vinyl material. There is a wider variation of profile choice with replacement boards. The standard board is similar in appearance to the cover boards, but Bull Nose and Ogee options are also available for those looking for something a little different. Cost Lastly, you would sit the wrapping onto the fascia so that the 1 inch part rests over the top edge of the fascia board. Make sure that the wrap fits snug on the fascia board and use screws to mount the wrap to the fascia. First, for a 1×6″ Fascia Board, we would first measure and cut the aluminum into 7 inch strips. (9″ for 1×8″, 11″ for 1×10″, etc…)Install soffit boards, nailing to each soffit bearer with 40mm Trimtop nails or capped screws. Allow the soffit board to overhang the rafter foot by 10mm to locate into the soffit groove at the rear of the fascia board.

If you are adding the wrap to your existing fascia board that is already on the home, first you’ll need to remove all of the gutters and hardware. You will need the fascia to be clean of any nails, screws, debris, etc.. that could prevent the wrap from sitting flush against the wood. The first two courses of tiles/slates should be taken up and set aside with a view to renewing the sarking felt. This will also allow for a full inspection of the roof rafters for signs of deterioration – any rotten ends must be cut out, repaired/replaced with treated timber to provide a suitable substructure. They are not done but we looked at the work at the end of the day and noticed another issue. The aluminum they are using to recover the fascia board does not extend all the way to the top of the wood fascia board but stops 1 to 2 inches from the top, which leaves 1 to 2 inches of raw wood exposed behind the new (and old) drip edge/gutter apron after the gutters are installed. I can only imagine the amount of water that could splash up into that area during heavy rains or freeze and thaw cycles. And once water goes over the top of that aluminum (because it is 2″ too short) it’s going to be trapped between the aluminum and the wooden fascia leading to heavy rot over time. Floplast cover boards are 9mm wide, whereas Floplast Replacement Fascias are 18mm wide. Load Bearing Freefoam’s smooth finish cover boards conform to both Class 1 resistance to fire propagation and Class 1Y resistance to spread of flames specification requirements. Delivery to non-Industrial Scotland, Northern Ireland, and CH, LL, and CA postcodes can sometimes take slightly longer, although this is dependent upon the exact location.

In the unlikely event of a late delivery, we will be unable to compensate you for any consequential loss, so please do not organise any plant or labour before you have received your materials. Rafters must be at maximum 600mm centres. Note: centres not exceeding 400mm are required for foiled and coloured profiles. As with our UPVC Fascia Boards, these Cover Boards can be nailed, cut, drilled and shaped using traditional woodworking tools, and they also benefit from being fire resistant as they are difficult to ignite and do not burn freely. These capping boards will not deteriorate as their outer skins are weather, chemical and impact resistant and like all PVC products they are impervious to infestation by insects. This ensures that there is very little requirement for ongoing maintenance after installation other than a clean down with soap water from time to time.

In the next two photos you can see the gutter eventually fell off the entire front of the home. What has happened here is the roof fascia board rotted away behind the fascia wrap. Because of the wrap nobody was able to know there was even a problem until it was too late. The above photos were taken one month before the below photos. As an additional feature UPVC Cover Boards can also be used as internal window boards when laid on top of existing timber window sills, these are virtually stain-resistant, are easily cleaned and do not require painting.
