About this deal

from firmware bugs slowing down the mouse reaction time, or bugs destroying the polling rate,or the software not detecting the mouse anymore, By now, I'm sure everyones heard about the issues about the MM731 with it's wireless mode being wonky and not only that but somehow Coolermaster managing to mess up the wired mode as well by introducing some motion delay. Wired mode on the MM731 was still very much playable for the two weeks that I was testing it and I guess my brain had just adjusted to it. But as soon as I got the MM730 in to compare side by side against the wired mode of the MM731, I could instantly feel what was wrong in-game. The movement on the MM731 sensor felt very rubber-bandy and slightly off whereas the MM730 feels flawless as a 3389 would. Coolermaster already has experience with the 3389 in the previous MM720 and MM710/MM711 mice so I'm glad they didn't manage to mess it up here. As for the MM731, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that they are implementing the 3370 for the first time... although it's still kind of mind boggling that not one of their "beta testers" were able to figure out there was an issue and notify them before releasing it. But who knows... maybe they did inform Coolermaster and they still couldn't get it right in time... Battery life is rated at 72 hours on 2.4GHz, sans RGB, but I managed to use it for just over two weeks before the battery hit 15%, even with the lighting enabled. Of course I wasn’t using it for two weeks straight, with the usual eight hours of sleep, few hours of breaks in between, like a normal person would use their mouse. One thing that I hope Cooler Master can improve however is to be able to see the exact percentage of battery, as the current way that it is shown in the MasterPlus software is just with a battery bar. I guess they thought since Apple can get away with it on the iPhone, they can too on the Cooler Master MM731? On the front edge, you can very clearly see the way that the sides wrap around the front, while the upper shell meets the rear. It’s quite aesthetically pleasing, and it also highlights the way that Cooler Master went with hard matte plastic for the sides as well, which is why they included grip tapes in the box. And the USB-C port is also not too recessed, unlike certain mice which force you to use proprietary cables. Not like I would recommend using the mouse with any other cable.

Motion1 - Temporarily removed the Stop Motion function. It will be reintroduced in a future version. The one thing I really miss from Logi is the scroll wheel. I used the side tilts a lot and I used the infinite scroll a lot. I thought I would miss scroll the most but I am actually finding that I miss the tilt more. However I can't find a comparable non-Logi mouse with these features in the first place so it's easier to feel complacent without them. Why don't other brands have infinite scroll? It's free real estate!Press “OK” to exit firmware update process and start to use your MM731. MM731 is ready for normal use. Since Cooler Master has brought the MM731 up to the level you would expect for a flagship wireless gaming mouse, I thought it would be a good time to revisit it. I wanted to pay special attention to the shape, which is fairly unique even among right-handed mice. I'll start with the build quality and performance, then get on to talking about the shape. Firmware for the mouse and dongle was easy to update to the latest firmware so there is no noticeable lag. Speaking of the software, MasterPlus is a neat little bit of software that supports most of Cooler Master’s ecosystem, from their RGB controllers to their more recent peripherals. For the Cooler Master MM731, you get to adjust the sleep mode delay, the low power mode notification, button assignment, sensitivity, lighting as well as the macro programming and on-board profile. There are five on-board profiles that you can create, which should be sufficient for most users anyway. Cooler Master also baked in the combo feature which lets you add a second layer to your mouse if you need to practically double the buttons/hotkeys available to you on the Cooler Master MM731. Conclusion

The cord itself is also a pretty nice cord that is very light and so if you forgot to charge the mouse it wouldn't be that bad to use it. Open the MasterPlus+ software, it will automatically read the current FW version of the MM731 and pop out to tell you to update the FW. Bluetooth was a feature that I really didn't think I would use all that much. While working from home. It's been a godsend. I feel as though the Bluetooth implementation could be better when switching from wireless to Bluetooth to my company laptop The sensor skips a fair bit. It requires switching the Bluetooth on and off then it works perfectly.

Having owned and tested many different gaming mice. This is one of the best mice on the market, but in my experience, the shape needs improvement. Cooler Master's Masterplus software lets it down. The MM731's software may be some of the least polished I've used. It's clunky, and the user interface looks half-baked at best. My main bugbear is with the LED that illuminates to different colours on the underside of the mouse when you switch DPI, which is not represented at all within the app. That means you have to set your DPI settings in the app, save them, and then cycle through the mouse to figure out which colour represents which DPI setting through trial and error. For RM239, the Cooler Master MM731 is quite a no-brainer of a mouse to get. Provided you like the classic ergonomic mouse shape. The Cooler Master MM731 makes itself is pretty unique as one of the few ultralight mice in the market to adopt the classic ergonomic shape without having to settle for a holey shell, all while also being wireless. Sure, I wish there was more RGB and also that the DPI switcher button was on top, behind the scroll wheel. I plugged the dongle into a USB port on my PC, opened MasterPlus+ software, and it shows “no compatible device supported.” What should I do?

Customer reviews

I think the logo placement on the mouse is horrible. The curvature of the mouse does not do it justice, I get they wanted to implement RGB into the mouse and have their branding. I think the CM logo should have been on the side of the mouse or on the left or right buttons. Taking out the RGB could have reduced the weight even more and possibly increased battery life. Granted I have turned the RGB off on day one.
