About this deal

Elinor! Come here, you stupid little b*tch.” Richard’s voice reverberated through the halls, and an almighty crash followed—a table thrown over, or a bookcase, perhaps. Her features, pale and tear-streaked, were ones that had been etched into my mind. Agonised over to the point where I wasn’t sure if I’d imagined her in that dark, rainy car park.

When Gordain McRae rescues Ella Fitzroy from her uncle's clutches he is doing his best friend, James -her brother - a favor. He has long admired James' beautiful little sister, and wants to protect her any way he can. At 17, she's far too young for him, but when she turns 18 and needs a husband to stop her evil uncle from stealing her inheritance, the only man she wants for the job is Gordain. Lomax shot me a glance across the bare floorboards of our holding area. He wiped his straight razor across his pants, his head half-shaved. “Is there a problem?” We all fall in love differently and I simply love the way Jolie’s men fall so hard for their women. As I’m beginning to realise, her women are strong-willed and heroes in their own right. A flash of blue caught my eye. Casey approached my table, a smile on her sensual lips. “Found you.”Sh*te. I’m so sorry. But we have to go.” Gordain took my face in his hands and made me stare at him. Another crash came from the hall. He grinned, and dimples popped. Damn. He was too cute for his own good. High cheekbones, a slightly too-wide mouth, and a flare of light in his eyes that I took way too long over admiring. Three years ago, I’d attended a legal fighting ring. I’d made money—not so legal—from my fights, and left the venue. Outside, I’d intervened in a beating a man was giving to a girl.

This book begins with a moment from Vines’s second book, Love Most, Say Least (by the way, another great book in this series), when Gourdain, James’s (the hero from LMSL) best friend and a military pilot, saves James’s sister, Ella, from their raving uncle. From the moment, there is a driving, intense chemistry between the two. However, there are a couple of issues: (1) Ella is his best friend’s sister and (2) Ella is younger than Gourdain (her 17 to his 22). For most of the first part of this story, these two engage in the unrequited dance of chemistry, as Ella doubts that Gourdain could be attracted to her and Gourdan struggles with a personal crisis and issues related to this past (not to mention his worry over her age). However, as in any good romance, that dance turns into something more, and the two must make a choice about their future together. Casey gave me a curious once-over, and I got caught on her sweet face, my concerns temporarily wavering. I don’t think they’ve noticed you, specifically.” I wrinkled my nose, not really wanting to burst his bubble.Hand it over.” Bursting from my seat, I grabbed the paper and pen then scrawled my signature near the box by the man’s finger. Ella, I’m Gordain. Your brother sent me. I’m coming for ye by helicopter. Keep out of your uncle’s sight. I’ll be landing soon. My father, a huge Highlander, strolled over and folded his arms. He cast an interested eye over my new friend. Leo was about the same height but had none of dad’s bulk. My father operated the mountain rescue local to our castle home and was used to bossing people around. He was also the overprotective sort and liable to ask questions. Gordain stared, his disbelief melting at whatever he saw in my eyes. Steely determination, I hoped.

The snowboarding party moved on, and I passed the cups to Leo before reaching for my bag and board. She was entirely out of place in her rainbow skirt, where bright reds mingled with oranges, yellows, and rich blues. A burst of colour in a mire of grey. I shouldn't be flirting with a strong willed lass. But Effie is good for my stubborn, unhappy sister, and spending time with her is no hardship when she sets my pulse racing. I can handle being tormented. I've survived worse. I’d dreamed about this day for so long, imagining the sheer headiness of being able to do whatever I wanted. But right now, I couldn’t centre myself. Prison life had messed with my mind. I’d asked my family to give me space in the first day or so but I wished I hadn’t. I always pictured my brother's best friend to be impressive--after all, he's a military helicopter pilot whose job is to save people. Then he appears in front of me and my assumptions fly out of the window. The third stand-alone instalment in the Marry the Scot contemporary romance series takes you away to big love in the Scottish Highlands. You will adore this modern-day hot Scot and his delicate and determined musician.
