About this deal

The most advanced version of this station is a 15-in-1 OMNI Station (comes with X1 OMNI) that includes complete auto-maintenance of the robot – 4L clean water for an internal water tank refill and mopping pads cleaning, 4 L waste water tank, 3 L dust bag to avoid dust bin cleaning for up to 60 days and hot air for mop drying. As you are all aware, robot vacuums navigate independently courtesy of a set of wheels and a navigation system. There are also sensors for detecting obstacles and stairs. Returning to the bot itself, I noticed that it was significantly quieter than the Samsung - the sound was also far less harsh. The laser mapping ensured that the brushes went right up to the edge of the skirting boards and left no strip of debris around the edges. I also noticed that the battery life in this unit seemed longer, the Samsung lasted about 90 minutes, whereas the DEEBOT lasted a few minutes short of two hours with standard suction and the main brush fitted. It is actually quite entertaining to watch the bot navigate a dining table and chairs, as it whirls round each leg in turn, trying alternative routes to get to all the voids created between them and squeezing through gaps only slightly wider than itself. Hmm, new game... bot obstacle course racing!

You then have to wait for it to rescan the entire house the next time you tell it to clean, leaving all the doors open (awkward with kids and pets), then re-identify all the rooms, re-enter all the carpet no-mop zones, all the virtual barriers and finally reconfigure all the schedules. In a large house like ours (over 200m2) this takes the better part of a day as it needs a recharge 2/3 through. The fact that the map is stored, the vacuum ensures that it covers all areas, and does not miss any. Enhanced Mobility with a new platform design, allowing it to effortlessly cross obstacles such as doorsills of up to 20mm. Since this bot is actually capable of being told to ignore areas when mopping, I decided to give the mopping function more than a cursory look. The biggest difficulty with the mopping function is making sure the no-mop areas are correctly defined, if not then the edges of the carpet get mopped or the mopping misses the edge - a bit of trial and error was required but a satisfactory result achieved eventually. Ignoring that fact, however, the mopping function is not bad.Basically, it's not going to be a complete substitution for cleaning or vacuuming yourself. But it might be useful for people who find vacuuming physically challenging or if you're so busy you can't always do it." Owner: "I find I never really use it"

It is most suitable for those who have multi-story homes because it can save up to 3 maps, and also has cleaning customisation options that are helpful for those who have large houses. Here, the war is waged between the popular models of the two brands, Deebot vs. Roomba. iRobot is still ahead of ECOVACS when you factor in the brand trust, and most importantly, vacuuming performance and reliability. The Ozmo 950 has a bigger internal battery, and can run up to 200 minutes on one charge. The Ozmo 920 runs for 110 minutes. The unit decided to restart with the charging at 90% complete, not full, which meant that the door to the theatre was not open when it started, so it skipped that room entirely, and the because the doors to three rooms it had previously cleaned were closed when it restarted, it decided not to label them at all so they cannot be scheduled in "area" cleans, there is simply no way to label them.
