DisplayPort uses packet-based data transmission, breaking the video stream into individual packets of data allows for longer cable runs, use in both copper and fiber-optic cables, and allows for higher bandwidth than other video formats. Active adapters on the other hand contain extra components that perform the necessary signaling conversion on their own, so they do not have the same reliance on a DP++ port as a passive adapter would.By capitalizing on the global growth trends of electrification and digitalization, we're accelerating the planet's transition to renewable energy and helping to solve the world's most urgent power management challenges.
The Lindy DisplayPort to HDMI Converter is a high performance solution that allows a DisplayPort source device to be connected to a HDMI display or projector.
The StarTech HDMI2DP HDMI or DVI to DisplayPort® Active Video Converter allows for seamless active conversion from an HDMI or DVI source to a DisplayPort® destination.
If the source supports dual-mode DisplayPort (also known as DP++), then you can use a passive adapter because the source can perform the conversion. Most Windows notebook computers power management settings will default to putting the computer to sleep with the lid closed, regardless of any external displays, keyboard, or mouse connected to the computer. In other words, active adapters are more flexible and can be used on either a pure DisplayPort output or a DP++ port. Closing the lid should no longer put the computer into sleep mode when an external display and power source is connected, instead one of the external displays should now become the Primary display with the desktop icons instead of the laptop's built-in display. When connected to an HDR television, the television will attempt to enable HDR over the connection even though it is not supported causing reduced refresh rate or image quality. Simply connect the DisplayPort end of the connector to your computer and plug your existing HDMI cable from the display into the adaptor.
