It comes pre-programmed for your choices of coin mode, relic mode, jewelry mode, a custom mode (you create it, it saves it) or a setting with no discrimination so you can hear all targets. Using this method, I found that targets were located just forward of the notch in the center of the coil and below the top of the inside loop. However, exceptions to this rule may occur for oddly shaped iron targets, such as a nail or piece of wire lying horizontally in the ground; flat objects on edge; or, even a very shallow coin. The control box is placed at the top of the handle where your fingers can easily reach the buttons and I was easily able to see the readouts once I’d hit a target.
