Mostly she’s fed up with feeling like a prisoner with the people trying to protect her, namely her brother and his best friend.

CONTENT WARNING: If you have “triggers” – be sure to read the content warning at the start of the book (immediately following the dedication). Things I am less enamored by are the eye roll inducing puns and jokes that made parts of this book incredibly painful. As Sawyer and Sammy navigate finding their happiness, Sammy shedding the last of her prior life, and figuring out who is threatening her, some of the hottest spicy scenes I've ever read occur! What this represents is that the first draft is finished, the game is playing well and the text is settled enough to start putting it into inDesign and laying it out.In the end, I thought Sawyer was a brilliant, consent-loving partner, though not always as funny as he thought he was with all the impressions.

Then I'm gonna hit this button, say the ball is swinging out of control, and before it hits her, I'm gonna destroy with my laser sphere. This prompts her brother and his Redleg Security family to put her under bodyguard protection with her brother, Leo, and his best friend and Sammy's not-so-secret crush, Sawyer, splitting guard duty. It is to combat this ignorance of solo play, how it works and how to do it that means I put this in the front of every rule book.I will now be rereading the first book (heartbreak hero)and this one again… had me hooked, that good!

It is really hard to suspend disbelief when you read about private citizens armed to the teeth literally flash banging someone's apartment and disappearing them. My only critique is there were places here and there in the story that felt as though Miz Walker was adding unnecessary filler to fulfill the quota of words she needed, despite the fact that they added nothing to the story. I loved seeing such a tough relatable heroine finally get her HEA with what I think might be my new favorite hero out of all of Walker's books.Fleeing from her abusive husband was no easy task but Sammy knew she had to get out or else her fake death would become very real. With a full RPG you can assume that it is unlikely to be someone’s first experience of RPGs or that if it is, they are being introduced by an experienced role player to the hobby.
