About this deal

Etwas, was mir noch aufgefallen ist: Mehr als einmal liest sich das Buch, als würde Dave Canterbury Ausrüstung verkaufen wollen. I found myself using this text to "bookmark" certain ideas that I hope to further explore with other resources.

Bushcraft 101 is a great book from the well known Survivalist and self reliance expert Dave Canterbury. I believe that I now have a grasp of some of the basics and have increased my chances of living off of the natural resources of the wilderness. The author attempts to cast a wide net and cover many topics, but he primarily focuses on the roughly 15% - 20% of bushcraft information he felt held the most value for beginners. It covers all the basics from making shelter and starting a fire to catching game and finding medicinal plants. There are those, such as Will Lord, who thrive on explorations of the most primitive skills such as flint-knapping, hide tanning and traditional fire lighting. It based on Canterbury's Five C's of Survivability - Cutting Tools, Covering Elements, Combustion devices, containers and cordage.

A mile wide and an inch deep the book covers all the areas you would need without going in depth enough, for this reader at least, to be confident he would be able to reproduce the desired results. Zebras are those things which aren't common such as famine, drought, disease, war, and breakdown of civil society/rule of law. I have been learning about bushcraft for a few years but I have yet to make my own shelter, and I'm also not particularly interested in hunting or fishing, so it was a good book to solidify some of my knowledge, but I think Canterbury overestimated what someone just getting into bushcraft needs and wants from a 101 guide.I'm no expert survivalist, nor am I a novice, but the author's observations, insights, and bushcrafting methods in this book have taught me a great deal about things I hadn't realized and thought of before. I haven't read many on the topic, so I'm not going to pretend like an authority in my review, but I have strapped on a pack and been on a few intermediate excursions.

Dennoch würde es in einem Grundlagenwerk nicht schaden, kurz mal zu erwähnen, was das überhaupt ist. It doubles up as a useful how-to guide and instruction manual for wild camping whilst also delivering a series of interesting segments on everything related to bushcraft.BUT he has great survival skills and great techniques that I have retained and will use in my future. Das ist aber tatsächlich mehr meine Ansicht und ich kann verstehen, wieso dieser Inhalt in diesem Buch ist. Advanced Bushcraft expands the 5 Cs model to encompass critical tools, equipment and skills to extend your stay in the wilds, teaching you much of what you would need to know about living sustainably long-term in the woods. Alles in allem ein Buch, das es gut meint und für Leute, die sich noch nie mit dem Thema beschäftigt haben, eine solide Quelle von Informationen.

Bushcraft 101: A Field Guide to the Art of Wilderness Survival when combined with the authors YouTube channel gives you all the skills you need to not only survive but thrive in the wild. g., 5 Tool Rule) that everything he carries not only performs one primary thing exceptionally well, but can perform other functions and tasks. This book also goes over how to use your surroundings to your advantage and basic knowledge of your surroundings like Types of trees and plants, species of animals, and types of terrains in the environment you're in. This book is a great starting point for beginners in bushcraft like me because it goes over the basic knowledge you need to have for bushcraft. There are some diagrams but there could do with being many more as, if you're new to the topic, some of the things described are complex to understand.I would highly recommend this book for those that are getting started in traditional bushcraft skills or looking to simplify their kit for short adventures and stays in the woods.
