The issues are interrupted by Year One which makes things a bit funny in regard to Jason’s timeline. While the material overall is pretty strong, the selection of issues could have been better to get a better view of the Jason Todd/Robin "arc" prior to Batman: A Death in the Family. I read this for the first time fairly recently (check my blog for a Robin based reading list I’ve been working through!

He then tells Batman he'll detonate some dynamite that's connected to the crane unless the coin says otherwise. The result is a jumble of small arcs and one-offs that aren’t brought together for any thematic purpose. Batman: Second Chances collects the issues just before and following Frank Miller’s iconic Year One arc. Some real good stuff and some real cringe stuff but overall I'm glad I stumbled across this one, if for nothing else to see Batman refer to his car as a buggy.

A few stories that leave unresolved cliffhangers drag down the overall quality, but the volume as a whole is enjoyable.
