About this deal

I suppose it didn't make sense at the time but looking back I think it would have been smart to keep Din Sync on pins 1-5 and then gone to an eight pin DIN and put MIDI on pins 6-8. Take care to select the correct manufacturer and device from the above list as there are many ways to wire these cables. So, if they could add an extra metre it would be perfect for linking up modular gear with a synth, which can easily be more than a metre away, and believe me a metre is not very long in those situations.

The signal on pin 4 is the current source, derived from a positive voltage in the driving MIDI output. In fact, I have been thinking of making my own MIDI dongles that have a 5-pin plug on one end and a female 3.In my simple understanding, if my Meris pedal is receiving on the tip it's also sending on the tip from the MIDI I/O box.

In this example, I had to set the MIDI channels for each synth to receive the two individual sequencer parts from the SQ-1. Male to MIDI 5-Pin DIN Type A Female - compatible with Korg Electribe 2, NTS-1, SQ-1, SQ-64, Akai MPC, Make Noise 0-Coast and more.
