The only other movie that I can of that has had similar success is the 1999 horror The Blair Witch Project. nature" aspect of the plot works as a response to the hippie counterculture's message of living as one with nature.It's this sort of intelligence writhing beneath the horror which elevates the narrative beyond schlock. Knowing the history of Jaws is a rite of passage into the realm of Jaws fandom for any self-respecting lover of the film. While the mix still has a slightly tinny mono-like feel to the dialogue, there's little that can be done to fix that, short of going back in time and reshooting the film with modern equipment. It's lengthy, and not being a fan of trailers generally, it would almost certainly have spoiled the movie for me.
