While much more expensive than other battery cases, the Apple Smart Battery Case is the best we’ve tested in terms of charging process and ease of use.

The iPhone X does fit in the XS case, though there’s a little gap around the camera housing and it isn’t quite as snug.This stands at just 2,000mAh, while the internal battery in the iPhone XR stands at nearly 3,000mAh. Testing the iPhone XS case, we waited till the iPhone was at 1% charge before putting it in the Smart Battery Case.

If you want this to be your main case and for it to be on your precious iPhone all the time, it is worth seriously considering investing in Apple’s own.Clearly, the Juice Pack Access is going to fall well short of being able to charge your iPhone XR from flat to full and sadly, my own test revealed that from flat, the case only got my iPhone XR charged to 39% - less than half capacity, which is likely due to wireless charging being a far less efficient way to get power from the case's battery pack to the one in your smartphone. With the Smart Battery Case on, the intelligent battery status is displayed on the iPhone Lock screen and in Notification Centre, so you know exactly how much charge you have left.
