He weaves together the evangelical emphasis upon hearing God in the Bible, and the charismatic commitment to hearing God in the prophetic, with the contemplative understanding of God's 'still, small voice' within. The first section of the book explores God’s Word, exploring the ways that the Bible can speak to us, and the second half focuses on God’s Whisper, what God really sounds like today. He weaves together the evangelical emphasis upon hearing God in the Bible, and the charismatic commitment to hearing God in the prophetic, with the contemplative understanding of God’s still, small voice within.
