About this deal

Overall, we had a great day out and enjoyed our afternoon tea but would have enjoyed a bit more leniency on tea bags for our second cup of tea. My love affair with afternoon tea probably dates all the way back to my university days in London a long time ago (28 years actually).

Matthew comes home to find visitors, and decides to help himself to tea and madeleines to the horror of Molesley, the butler, and embarrassment of his mother, the Dowager and Cora.

I am a big fan of healthy eating and while many of these treats are “sometimes” foods, but I also include healthy versions of some treats which you can enjoy anytime. The recipes are illustrated by pictures from the show - sometimes of the characters rather than the food, I wish there was more pictures of the cakes though.

The pinky “up” rule is actually a misinterpretation of the 3 fingers vs 5 fingers dining etiquette in the 11th century, but we won’t judge…much. Here are some of my friends’ reviews on Alfred’s new place of work… It sounds like he has gone to a fantastic employer, farewell Alfie! An upstairs tea would have been displayed by the servants prior to their own tea and served by the family for themselves. by the “wet lettuce” of a footman, Alfred just before he leaves the Abbey completely… I didn’t see that coming oddly. It’s full of wonderful pictures and quotes from the TV series Downton Abbey, mouthwatering pictures of delicacies and recipes, and lots of information about the British Afternoon Tea. The couple next to us were making the most of it and the husband had four sandwich refills – one of the good things about it is that you can have as many lovely sandwiches as you can eat. Originally made with unleavened oats and cooked on a griddle, scones today are generally sweetened and served with clotted cream and jam.

You will need to present your ticket at the Main Castle Gate, and again upon arrival at the Coach House. Il est dommage que les étapes de la préparation ne soient pas illustrées, certaines recettes complexes pourront nécessiter une recherche complémentaires en cas de doute. Now you can see how it’s done with the Countess of Carnarvon and an online Afternoon Tea Party at the REAL Downton Abbey, Highclere Castle and Viking TV.Cakes, tarts and puddings - From colourful Battenburg cakes and lemon tarts to warming spicy dark gingerbread or steamed toffee pudding, these irresistable bakes will have something to suit every taste.

You will be given an opportunity to pre-check the availability of tables for Afternoon Tea before proceeding with your purchase of admission tickets.

The book is laid out with wonderful pictures of the cast of the tv program alongside pictures of the delicious looking delicacies that are on offer. and they don’t allow people wearing their national costumes into the seating area, claiming it would spoil the scene – how pompous is that? low (afternoon), the two types of tea plants and how the tea leaves are prepared to make the different varieties of tea. Picture yourself Lady Mary while strolling along the gardens, Mrs Patmore while picking out your favourite cakes or step into the upper class that is good old Violet, Dowager Countess of Grantham, judging everyone who crosses your path while sipping your tea.
