About this deal

Our Sloe Boat Gin has been made by steeping wild-harvested sloe berries for 6 months in our Double Gin. Only the best organic ingredients are used at The Boatyard Distillery, and where possible only local ingredients are selected. It’s made by steeping wild-harvested sloe berries for six months in its juniper-forward Double Gin , and sweetened with sustainably sourced Fermanagh honeysuckle syrup. The carefully crafted balance of flavours brings harmony to this spirit - intense plum, almond and berry fruitiness from the sloes and soft sweetness from the honeysuckle accompanied by our juniper-forward Double Gin - giving you the perfect mix of dry, sweet and tart. The first award winning product to be released from The Boatyard Distillery, situated on the banks of the Lough Erne and created by founder Joe McGirr.

I started making my own Sloe Gin some forty-plus years ago and took great pride in the preparation and pricking of the berries, selection of my gin, and the right amount of sugar. Indulge in the exquisite flavours of Boatyard Old Tom Gin, a true homage to the classic style of gin. Then followed the six-month seasoning in a cool dark cupboard before the gentle decanting back into bottles followed by further maturation in the same dark cupboard. Boatyard Double Gin (46% ABV) is an award-winning gin produced in County Fermanagh in North West of Ireland.

Old Tom is a style of gin that some say takes its name from an illicit method of dispensing gin in the 18th Century. In the event of any safety concerns or for any other information about a product please carefully read any instructions provided on the label or packaging and contact the manufacturer.

Please always read the labels, warnings, and directions provided with the product before using or consuming a product. I recently opened the bottle having read the label which outlined its origins ( from a very pretty and historical part of Fermanagh ) and with my friends sampled with an open mind ( and mouth ) and all AGREED delicious ! By exposing it to juniper at two separate points in its creation, the distiller can create a gin with a more complex and pronounced juniper flavour. This double contact method, which Dutch genever distillers would term ‘dubbel gebeide genever’, results in a more pronounced juniper flavour.I have done this with my own brews and still have a bottle from all those years ago that only comes out on very special occasions.
