About this deal

We do still have replacement parts for the R8 Mk 1, 1 LED Mk 2 and 1 LED Adventure Mk 2 but any repair work will be carried out at the discretion of Hope Technology as these models are over two years old.

An array of COB LEDs plus a single larger strobe LED provide a large illuminated surface in the Blinder light. The spot is fairly focused on the front of the bike, but its good power output means beam spread is okay (though not amazing) with the standard lenses installed. This instructable will show how to convert (AA or AAA powered) bicycle lights to use a USB rechargeable lithium battery pack. The Micro-USB charging standard isn't quite as up-to-date as USB-C and the light can shift slightly under heavier shocks. The clamp is fiddly and the charging cable is proprietary, but otherwise, this is a great light for road and gravel night riding.

Although, the standard size makes this type of battery very strong and solid, and therefore provides its own strong housing. As its looks suggest, the main selling point of the Knog Cobber Mid rear light is side-on visibility, and it certainly doesn't disappoint in this regard. Rechargeable bike lights have pretty much taken over, except for some tiny blinkies which may use a coin cell.HID light three times higher brightness than halogen light at same power wattage, but much more expensive. The narrow beam might not suit mountain bikers or bikepackers cycling at night, but there are more StVZO light options becoming available that let you change between high and low beams to get around this issue. The app will let you choose between six modes and a variety of features including a braking mode and theft alarm. There are 30 modes, with claimed run times starting at 32 hours for the 400-lumen setting and dropping to one hour 30 minutes for the 8,000-lumen max-power mode, although it ran for slightly longer in testing. At BBB Cycling we plead for constant Lumen output, this means that we tempt to keep the lumen output the same over time.

And, just in case the hub dyno fails, you should be carrying some kind of backup for it anyway (Scout motto). The Mk17 Race sits at the bottom of Exposure's bike headlight range, but it's still an excellent light from the British brand. The light beam has a central focus, illuminating roads well, and the peripheral illumination helps you see what’s at the edge of your vision. The saddle rail attachment isn’t universal and dirt can get trapped in the light – so have your sponge at the ready. Introduce tight switchbacks, however, and the lack of spread and stark peripheral cut-off limit speed and confidence.this battery pack connects to the Ferei HL65 headlight using an 88cm Ferei extension cable and can be used in place of the 1 cell battery pack supplied with the HL65. They produce less heat, are brighter, can form a larger array and can come in a variety of colours – but remember the law in most countries dictates a rear light must be red.

In real life, it often occurs that these promises won't be kept and the amount of light won't keep up with a long lifetime or the other way around. Of course, Night Rider will actually test your light if it goes back to them, so weigh your abilities to diagnose other issues that may be battery related vs. Feeling much brighter than its claimed 1,600 lumens in Blitz mode and boasting an excellent IP67 rating, this is a great little all-in-one light. With six XPL2 LEDs and 24 modes in total, the Exposure Six Pack is an impressive beast, reflected in its 406g weight. As the light from the LED and reflector shines through the lens it’s either focused or spread depending on the characteristics of the lens. This can be easily resolved by applying a small amount of silicone lubricant to the outside surface of the battery connector.
