About this deal

I had mixed feelings about Grace as a character but was very clear on my feelings for Jack - I did not like him, I hated him. We're well into March but there's still a nip in the air and Jack likes our guests to be as comfortable as possible.

But then again, it was so clever and effective the way the author had Grace happily heading off to the airport by herself, and it kept me incredibly tense and curious about what had happened and whether she truly would be free. I finished Behind Closed Doors about half an hour ago, and my heart still feels like it’s racing, probably not helped by me forgetting to breathe throughout the majority of the book. In this way, Paris builds backstory and current action into storylines that build in parallel and meet at the end. And even though Grace sees very little outside of her cell-like room, developing the normal and everyday sights, sounds and smells of the locations she passes through could have actually added to the horror of her predicament.I've lost count of the number of women I tried to set Jack up with but no one would do until he met Grace. The *sickening* element is certainly present, but applied with a gentle hand and refrains from growing too dark or heavy. While I can’t say I loved this one, I liked it enough to consider reading another book from this author. Esther picks her up at the airport and, over coffee, coaches her on what she should say to the police to get away with the murder. I'm completely baffled by all the five-star reviews for this one-dimensional yawnfest; the contrived storyline has to rank as one of the most implausible of all time.

In the beginning he charmed her with his good looks and devotion to defending battered women, but mostly because if his devotion to her sister Millie, who has Down’s Syndrome.

The book is all told from a first-person point-of-view and alternates the present day marriage between Jack and Grace Angel with the past, including the months leading up to the marriage. She glances at Jack and I know she's wondering how someone so good-looking managed to stay unattached for so long. It transpires that Jack and Grace have been married just one year and that Grace gave up her job (a job she admits she loved) so that she could be home more often to support her husband. But on the couple’s wedding day Millie suffered from a terrible slip and fall down the stairs breaking her leg and removing her from the wedding festivities entirely (*dun dun dunnnnnnnnn*). I've just finished reading this book and I'm glad I did so before reading too many of the reader reviews.

And in the end, I really wanted to actually see Grace get her revenge: I wanted to see Jack suffer, to watch her make him suffer, to see his reaction. Diving into the spoiler >>>> "Molly could only have been dead a few days at the most, because her body hadn't started to decompose. She didn’t expect to be swept off her feet by the charismatic Jack Angel, a chivalrous Prince Charming who dotes on Millie as much as he seems to love Grace. this book is perfect proof as to why i think people who get married to someone they have known less than six months are completely out of their minds. Maybe people just need mental junk food now and then, and it’s better to have junk food that’s well put together—think a Snickers bar—than junk food that’s just bad—think gummy worms.

Grace feels like she has time, but when Millie comes to their house for a birthday party, Jack is reluctant to let Millie leave, and wants to have her move in sooner. B A Paris is the internationally bestselling author of Behind Closed Doors, The Breakdown and Bring Me Back. I should thank Shelby for sending this to me, but I kind of feel like she April Fooled me a month late. Although proving that my client hadn't inflicted the wounds herself, given that she had a penchant for self-harm, made it a little more difficult.Behind Closed Doors is both unsettling and addictive, as I raced through the pages to find out Grace's fate.
