About this deal

I think maybe I lack the background knowledge of the scenarios which were at the times of classical poets or I also lack the classical vocab too.

I think it’s because this book opens our eyes to how/why Aphrodite and Ares fell in love—he celebrated the parts of her that lesser men wanted to rip away. It plays a strong parallel to the sides of stories from everyday women today society would have us overlook, too, and it’s powerful. For fifty years, she has trained to slay wyrms - but none have appeared since the Nameless One, and the younger generation. Using the framework of a conversation, with sections alternating between the perspective of the poet and the goddess herself, Mateer explore issues like: heartbreak, sexuality, trauma, and the restorative power in taking control of your own lore, speaking your truths, and rewriting your origin story. You will find grace between these pages and a little sadness, too--the kind that makes flowers grow in all of the places you need them most. With an enemies-to-lovers romance between a witch and a witch hunter, this YA fantasy series is highly addictive. In this empowering retelling, she uses the mythology of the goddess to weave a common thread through the past and present.

This book is perfect for anyone struggling with their own healing process and anyone trying to find meaning to their own life. This worked really well for me, much better in fact than deliberately pointed poems about finding your inner strength when faced with heartache or only needing yourself all along anyway, all of which I find isolating. In Troy they fought over Helen like children but Achilles mourned Patroclus the way a soul mourns a body. Men said she was the perfect vessel for evil to enter the world, but men are the ones who wrote the stories.aphrodite then (as the feminist, lgbt icon she is) explains the power of love and forgiveness to our narrator. Bestselling and award-winning author Trista Mateer takes an imaginative approach to self-care in this new poetry and prose collection, Aphrodite Made Me Do It .

Unfortunately they do not have this one as a physical copy, so I'll just have to wait until I can get my own— which I will totally be doing because this book is definitely worth rereading again and again. There are multiple images throughout which felt a little juvenile – they genuinely looked like images captured from google with clip art attached, or were images with poignant quotes on which you’d often see scrolling along your chosen social media platform. Among all these other things, it’s an incredible view on many infamous women of mythology, and it gives a voice to the sides of their stories that we all too often overlook. This dream/encounter set the stage for a beautiful conversation between the two; one which holds value for anyone who would hear it.In this way some of her work was perhaps lessened by her execution when it could have had a much greater impact if delivered in another way. Bestselling and award-winning author Trista Mateer takes an imaginative approach to self-care in this new poetry and prose collection, Aphrodite Made Me Do It. My pain has always deserved a voice and I will not deny it that, but I won’t devote my life to it either. There were so many pages I marked and highlighted on Scribd, but I don't think I'll purchase a physical copy for myself or ever revisit it. No tenía idea de que iba el libro pero es hermoso, lo recomiendo mucho y se ha convertido en uno de mis libros favoritos.
