About this deal

The latest from Painter ( Better Than the Movies) is a fine choice for libraries where rom-com audiobooks circulate well.

Whatever the case, I was left with an unresolved feeling that no one wants to feel after reading a rom-com. I'd fallen in love with that face briefly at the age of fourteen, but after eavesdropping on a conversation where he'd referred to me as the "little weirdo" at age fifteen, I'd taken an extreme right turn into loathing and never looked back. It was just enough to swoon over their romance and connection, but not so much that you knew exactly where part a and part b were going. The characters and romance were the biggest successes for me, while the pacing and conflicts seemed to drag just a tiny bit at times. Now unemployed, single, and homeless, she’s forced to crash with her brother and his roommate, Colin Beck.

What I loved most about Olivia and Colin’s slow-burn romance was that the former always seemed to be a disaster in all occasions whereas the latter was perpetually composed. The provocative opening takes a dark turn when Lily receives a warning about Ryle’s intentions from his sister, who becomes Lily’s employee and close friend. I adored the banter in this book, how Colin learnt to really look at and began to understand Olivia as well as the way their relationship progressed and developed. Wrong Number, an anonymous man who accidentally sent her a saucy message, has grown from lighthearted banter to what might be a real connection.

You May Also Like All That Sizzles by Sakshama Puri Dhariwal – delectable Bollywood vibe romcom 30 January 2024 It's Monday! Wrong Number was the first one of Lynn Painter’s books that I’ve read, and I didn’t know much about this book before I started reading…but I ended up loving this book and it completely exceeded my expectations! Besides, there were several moments I caught myself not only laughing out loud but giggling–I meant, REALLY GIGGLING like a little girl–nonstop throughout the book and I had to admit the entire reading experience was pretty pleasant. Wrong Number is such a fun and light-hearted romcom which will undoubtedly lift anyone’s mood after reading the first page.
