About this deal

Just because he's passionate about the environment doesn't mean that he should think his priorities are more important; and the use of emotional blackmail against the main character more than once was upsetting.

This debut is a light beach read that scratches an itch for readers craving a gay romance that incorporates classic romance tropes. Having sharp ears and the ability to pay attention to words hopping out of mouths is a particular trait one can feel proud about, sure. The romantic ephemerality suggested in these sensually plainspoken images situates them in a grand painterly and poetic tradition … [Dugan’s] frank and fluid approach to representing queer affection makes space for a more complex and beautiful human experience, at odds with the erasures and reductions of our banal binaristic culture.

Filled with Simon James Green’s distinctive brand of humour making this an important but also very enjoyable read! It was, in a way, but in others it was more constrained as it wove a more complex plot against the backdrop of staggering wealth and incomprehensible privilege. I really loved the first two books in this series, so I was looking forward to this one as being grander and more epic than the previous two. Believable characters and the warmth of Green’s writing bring light to a difficult topic” – Observer In the margins of a book’s pages, sparks fly as a teenage romance begins. She always treats herself with respect by keeping herself clean, eating good food, and exercising properly.

She is her own best friend, she likes her round tummy, and best of all: she reads good books by herself (like me). This boy made it seemed that what was important to him was the only important thing and what Zack was working for with soccer (and for his team) was trivial in comparison.Self-care is such an important part of treating yourself kindly and I love that this book is demonstrating that for the target audience. In the midst of family tensions, an egocentric free spirit who hits rock bottom finds unexpected success as a self-empowerment guru after publishing a self-help book. It was delightful to have an LGBTQ+ story, with a same-sex relationship at its heart, that's NOT about the fear of being queer or trauma of coming out, but instead treats queer as just as usual as straight and is instead about the regular dreams and angst of dealing with crappy adults and a toxic "friend". It teaches them that everyone is different in a way but to accept each other and especially accept yourself. This book is great for children because it shows them that it is okay to have mistakes and to get knocked down because you can get back up and try again.
