About this deal

Like the previous two books, this is short, although it's the longest of the three (Eve of Destruction, Born of Rage, Born of Blood), it still suffers from the lack of length to develop both characters and story. These books have stayed clean of bad language and although there is battle violence it's not overly graphic or too gory.

I first started reading the books in the League series in 2011 and read about a book a year from then through 2017. A woman I don’t know about to piss in the only thing I own, and everything else I can claim fits into a backpack I have to carry with me everywhere I go because I never know when I have to hit the ground running. The family claiming to want Hadrian are all dead except for Nero after their family and empire were wiped out.

It also helped that when they needed help they both knew the same people and they could vouch for the other. One interesting thing about this story is how you could cut the last few hours off and create 5 different endings, all of which would be equally as compelling. This one quickly spun out of control for Jayne when her simple find and bring back assignment went to kill and in a very messy way. Hadrian is so different to Nero, he feels more like Mari than Nero (not certain where that came from).

If you love hot "romance" amongst born enemies, often on the run from an even bigger enemy, then I highly recommend you start with book 1. Though to be honest I would start at the beginning of the entire The League series to help a new reader understand everything and where all the characters interrelate and interconnect. Please be patient as Sherri and her publisher work together to get the books her fans love back into production and out to the fans who have been so eagerly waiting for them. Currently the demo includes the prologue which contains roughly 11600 words and an average 6500 on a single play through. This story can get relatively dark with the MC being traumatised through the events of their life- but you can control how far they potentially fall/recover.

The only criticism I would have is the part where you swap pov to the two girls, a bit jarring, maybe I missed something that makes it more relevant than I perceived it to be, but it just felt out of place in the moment at least. We begin with Giaris and Leonidas stealthily sneaking up on the Spartan gates, pausing only long enough to formulate a plan.

On one level I was excited this was a trilogy and we were set to get all our answers at the end of October. We get to learn Jayne's background, what she wanted to be before she was forced into her life, her life secret (she's a Winged Batur 😲) and what makes her tick. Dear Miss McQueen I have found your league series from born of night all the way to Eva destruction extremely well written, but born of blood was not what I expected. The small band of soldiers sneak in and split up in different directions to keep from being noticed. As with the other 3 stories in this series, the narrator did a great job of bringing this world and characters to life. Now, a small band of soldiers, led by Giaris and Leonidas, work to sneak back into the city and take Aurelai by surprise for a bloody reckoning. In Chapter Seven, it's said that Jinx's parents were murdered by his uncle, yet in both previous books (Eve of Destruction and Born of Rage), it's said that Jinx's parents were murdered by his half brother, Tobin.

As a bounty hunter and assassin, she’s seen the worst dregs of humanity and every sentient species ever spat out of a hell realm. I enjoyed the story and the characters, but am disappointed that it isn't up to the standards I expect from this (favorite) author. Sherrilyn Kenyon is changing the face of the vampire novel, making hip, darker and much more appealing. Guy meets girl, one of which is running from the law and/or trying not to be killed and/or everyone hates them and has made their life hell. At least we had the two Eve of Destruction stories leading into it, but this is not as long as the average League novel. However, I do think this story (Jane/Hadrian backstory) needed to be told before Nero and Trajen's stories. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. I’m genuinely so glad you think so, I really wasn’t sure if people would care what with doing a short prologue so it’s a relief to know at least one person did. In this remarkable book, Scott Gac unpicks individual, group, and institutional expressions of power, refracted through race, gender, and class.
