I can understand the appeal with the Black Opium line being “sexy” but IMO I would not want to be cuddled up with anyone wearing it unless it was a dab/tiny spray on the back of their neck left to warm up throughout the day.

To my nose, Black Opium Neon opens with a strong pink pepper top note, which isn't included in the notes pyramid but *is* listed for the original Black Opium. Imagine drinking a a lightly sweetened iced coffee with milk, while eating a very sweet pitaya bowl. YSL Black Opium Neon EDP adds a neon-like radiance to the signature Black Opium with this luscious dragon fruit.Orange blossom is also the most prominent note from beginning to end of the perfume lifecycle with dragon fruit supporting that soapy sweetness. sorry to say it's a bit dissapointing, I was hoping the "neon" would make it more sharp or bold or striking but to my nose it is rather benign: pretty but not very unique and more faint than the original: not very "neon" at all. I think there are just too many competing notes and it's a bit overwhelming, even if it does smell nice. However, a few hours later as it dried down the citrus has grown really strong that it suffocated me!

This is different than the original and for me much more wearable, because of the fruity sour note, mixed with hints of coffee.

The whiffs I get change all the time though, which makes me think that this might actually smell quite interesting on me. They have serious 70s vibes with the brightly coloured circle on the black stone like bottle, very brutalist type of style. Don't get me wrong, I love Black Opium in general, and this one is close enough to the original to smell pleasant, but it's a little bland. Blind bought this (due to lockdown), thinking it would be a fresher, citrussy take on the original Black Opium. The immediate pulse of electrifying black coffee meets with the assertive femininity of the most precious white flowers, jasmine sambac and absolu fleur d'oranger, melting with incredibly addictive with vanilla and woody notes.This exhilarating adaptation of the best-selling Black Opium fragrance is characterised by a unique, exotic top note of Dragon Fruit. I don’t pick up on the dragonfruit at all, wouldn’t even know it was a component if I didn’t read the notes.

This scent is quite interesting in that I don’t really pick up the orange blossom on myself most of the time, but I do get sudden whiffs, which makes me suspect it’s the kind of note that surrounds me like a cloud, but stays at a little distance if that makes sense. As a person who is not a fan of Ysl fragrances and black opium, this flanker was soooo yummy yummy yummy. This is just a berry/sweeter version of the opium and to be honest, still misses the mark with this one, as I find it now far too sweet but also heavy and still headache inducing. The Eau de Parfum Neon adds a neon-like radiance to the Black Opium dark coffee accord emboldened with luscious dragon fruit.

It’s smells like those pens that I had when I was a child that smelled like fruits in all different colors. I think I do pick up some of the dragon fruit in the opening, but it’s more in a supporting role for the orange blossom than that it’s doing anything interesting for itself. This has the best coffee drydown of all the black opiums without losing on freshness, and just for that, I nominate it as the perfume of my winter 2023/24. The scent soon transcends into a bouquet of orange blossom, coffee, and jasmine sambac, igniting a burst of energy and vibrancy. It is lighter than the original but still very noticeable and persistent it is rather sweet and glossy and very sexy!
